Al Mar Mini Sere Lock Problem

Hi goloknaga,
Sorry to hear you're having problems too. I do think there's a good chance AMK will put things right for you though. Although it took a while Al Mar did send me a new knife and paid return shipping:) .
After discussing the problem here first, I contacted AMK for a RMA number and posted the knife to them on 8th August.
By 8th of September I hadn't heard anything so phoned AMK and was told that my knife was been looked at and would be mailed out the following week.
Unfortunately by 4th October no knife had appeared so I gave them another call. This time I was told the knife had, for some unknown reason, just not gone anywhere or had anybody look at it. The guy was very apologetic and promised that if it couldn't be repaired by the end of that day then a new one would be sent out in its stead. This time they were as good as their word and a crisp new Mini SERE was waiting for me at the post office on the 14th October.
This knife locks up perfectly so far though I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces as yet.
My overall impression from dealing with AMK was generally good. The avoidable delay was irritating at the time and I wish they had initiated contact during the process, perhaps to acknowledge receipt of the knife etc.
They were however very polite at all times and apologised for the inconvenience caused on numerous occasions.
In the end, they sorted the problem:thumbup:
Thanks to those who persuaded me to return the knife.

Hello Abe,

Thanks for the info. It's good to hear they paid the return shipping for you, very encouraging indeed. It shows that AMK is committed to their customers. When one lives outside the US, one needs to think twice before thinking of sending the knives for warranty repair for there's good chance that one'll be charged the customs duty yet again upon receiving it. It happened to me while I was living in Australia after sending my mini CQC7 under warranty. I'll give them a call tomorrow to get my RMA number.

I sent a Nomad back to them a year or so ago and had almost the exact same thing happen as Abe did. I eventually got a new knife and they were always polite, but I had to keep after them to get anything to happen.

Not A Lock Problem But Handle Coming Apart!!
I Have An Original (?) Bought In Late 80's Mini Sere With About A 3 Inch Blade And Black Rubber Slabs And A Gold Colored Crest In It. The Rubber Started To Disentergrate After About 2 Years Carrying In My Pocket. I Put It Up As A Collectable And Last Year Sent Almar An Email About The Problem. No Response Of Any Kind. Has Anyone Else Had A Similar Problem And What If Any Solution?
