Hi all,

Due to a recent change in health, I might need to sell off some gear to help pay the bills.

I wonder if the following three knives are collectable/worth anything...

1. Al Mar Pathfinder, 14" double-edge combat machete
2. Gerber Mark 1
3. Schrade Uncle Henry LB8

All have original sheaths, are lightly used/carried and generally in very good condition. I plan on taking some photos, but I need some brass cleaner first to shine the brasswork up a bit!

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Rick.

P.s. I'm in the UK.

I don't know about the Pathfinder, but the other two are rather common on eBay. You should be able to find some that have sold in the same condition as your's to check the value. Since they're used, they probably won't sell for much $$, but I suspect you'll have no trouble unloading them.

I'd guess $20-$30 for the Schrade and $50-ish for the Gerber. If they were NIB the Schrade might be $50-ish and $100+ for the Gerber if the timing was right.

Do not shine them up. Sell them as is, you will probably lose value with other than simple cleaning.

Knives are like old coins, firearms, and furniture, they lose value if buffed, shined, or refinished. There are horror stories galore on Antiques Roadshow about owners who lost 50% of the value "cleaning them up."

Strange but true.
