Well, I got such a good trade-deal on this one that I decided to take a chance on this liner-lock, and I'm SURE glad that I did.:D.

Congratulations on your acquisition of the SERE 2000, Glockman!:D These are IMHO, the best buys out there in quality production folders. The liner locks rival and in some cases exceed those of even custom models.

You are correct in that it was basically early runs that had some lock probs. Later runs have been top rate.

The knife is also very comfortable to grip--even when "white-knuckled".

Hey---You guys with the problems with the "sharp" thumb stubs--gimmeabreak. Come on--toughen up those thumbs. Get some "knifesturbation" going here.;) ;)

Good luck with the 2000, Dann.

The SERE is a fabulous knife and an unbelievable value. Notice how smooth it is when you open it? Like glass. In my opinion it is the best production knife for under $150, and better than many knives above that price.

The only change I did to the knife was add a bit of black heat shrink wrap "tubing" over the end of the thumbstud which rubs on my pants pocket. The tumbstud would grab the stitching on my jeans otherwise. This is the opposite thumb stud which I use to open the knife.

Enjoy it.

An added bonus that you can draw the knife very fast with one hand: keep it nicely lubed/clean (use a dry lube and not too much) and with a flick of the wrist it locks open. When I show it to my collegues, they all search for the release button cause they think it's an auto.

I have a Microtech LCC automatic, but that isn't nearly as fast. You have to re-grab the knife after engaging the mechanism.

CONGRATS!!

GLOCKMAN THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST FOLDERS MADE TODAY. I OWN IT AND IT IS A GREAT KNIFE. TOUGH AS NAILS AND IT RIDES LOW AND COMFORTABLE IN MY POCKET AND THE LINER IS TOUGH. THIS ONE HAS BEEN FIELD TESTED AS WELL. THEY USE THIS KNIFE AT FT BRAGG FOR THE ARMY ELITE FORCES. ENJOY!!
