Al Mar SERE 2000 or Spyderco Military?

You know, I think I was being rash with my last comment.

icemanjeff - You own both & I don't; I only own the Spyderco Military, and have handled the Sere2000 a couple times. This, I realize does not put me in a very objective position. In fact, since reading this thread and others I've been researching the SERE 2000 more fully, and I think it may be the next knife I buy. I really enjoy a "solid feeling" folder, such as Spyderco's Chinook and Wegner, so I'll bet I'm gonna' love the Sere2K.

Thanks a lot for all the info...

I'm quite sure my next purchase will be the Sere 2k...i really like the look of the coated blade...maybe i'll get the spydie after christmas...heheh...

Will have to wait for my Battle Rat and Howling Rat to arrive first...then i'll get the Sere 2k...woo hoo...if all goes well i should get it before christmas...

I'm making the same decision this afternoon on a trade deal. The fellow is offering me my choice of either knife. The tough part for me is that I have owned both knives and carried and used them extensively. Now I've got to decide all over again. Damn!! I'll probably go with the SERE just because of the way it carries and it's near indestructibility [sic].
With either knife, I know that I'll have a tool that can handle just about any cutting job out there short of a plasma cutter.
Decisions...decisions...decisions...Hmmmmmf!

Get the Al Mar SERE 2000...(And that's coming from a guy who used to HATE liner-locks before getting a SERE 2000 myself.).:).

I agree with all the thumbs-up comments about the SERE2K. However, I traded mine because it's just a tad bulkier than I prefer for pocket carry. The SERE is a great knife, but my 806-D2 fits my hand (and pocket) a little better. If you don't mind a rather thickset pocket knife, you'll love the SERE.
