Just purchased one of AP's knives and although this info is a bit late! I did some research since I was not familiar with Al Polkowski knives, and noted the obituary at this link:

As a fellow veteran, didn't think it was fare he received a bad rap for non-performance on knife orders since the time frame orders were placed for the knives appear to be about the time he was ill and passed away some months later. Seemed like a good guy and knife I purchased is top notch craftsmanship, real shame he's gone! RIP

RIP Al Polkowski
I never met him, but I owned several of His knives over the years,
They were all works of art:thumbsup:

Thanks for response, i'm new to the forum and may have missed some threads. I noted today there was one mention of his passing. Regards, JAC

I have to admit this is one of the few times the maker turned out to be actually sick. RIP to this gent. It's usually myriad excuses about everything from shop fires to sick or dying relatives and in most cases after a hefty deposit has changed hands from buyer to maker.
