Al Qaida Behead another US Hostage

Great cat pic Danny - tell us about him/her (looks like a male)...

The wounded British soldier was often left to the Afghan women to use as they saw fit, hence this last verse:

"When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!"

THE YOUNG BRITISH SOLDIER
By Rudyard Kipling

WHEN the 'arf-made recruity goes out to the East
'E acts like a babe an' 'e drinks like a beast,
An' 'e wonders because 'e is frequent deceased
Ere 'e's fit for to serve as a soldier.
Serve, serve, serve as a soldier,
Serve, serve, serve as a soldier,
Serve, serve, serve as a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

Now all you recruities what's drafted to-day,
You shut up your rag-box an' 'ark to my lay,
An' I'll sing you a soldier as far as I may:
A soldier what's fit for a soldier.
Fit, fit, fit for a soldier,
Fit, fit, fit for a soldier,
Fit, fit, fit for a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

First mind you steer clear o' the grog-sellers' huts,
For they sell you Fixed Bay'nets that rots out your guts --
Ay, drink that 'ud eat the live steel from your butts --
An' it's bad for the young British soldier.
Bad, bad, bad for the soldier,
Bad, bad, bad for the soldier,
Bad, bad, bad for the soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

When the cholera comes -- as it will past a doubt --
Keep out of the wet and don't go on the shout,
For the sickness gets in as the liquor dies out,
An' it crumples the young British soldier.
Crum-, crum-, crumples the soldier,
Crum-, crum-, crumples the soldier,
Crum-, crum-, crumples the soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

But the worst o' your foes is the sun over'ead:
You ~must~ wear your 'elmet for all that is said:
If 'e finds you uncovered 'e'll knock you down dead,
An' you'll die like a fool of a soldier.
Fool, fool, fool of a soldier,
Fool, fool, fool of a soldier,
Fool, fool, fool of a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

If you're cast for fatigue by a sergeant unkind,
Don't grouse like a woman nor crack on nor blind;
Be handy and civil, and then you will find
That it's beer for the young British soldier.
Beer, beer, beer for the soldier,
Beer, beer, beer for the soldier,
Beer, beer, beer for the soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

Now, if you must marry, take care she is old --
A troop-sergeant's widow's the nicest I'm told,
For beauty won't help if your rations is cold,
Nor love ain't enough for a soldier.
'Nough, 'nough, 'nough for a soldier,
'Nough, 'nough, 'nough for a soldier,
'Nough, 'nough, 'nough for a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

If the wife should go wrong with a comrade, be loath
To shoot when you catch 'em -- you'll swing, on my oath! --
Make 'im take 'er and keep 'er: that's Hell for them both,
An' you're shut o' the curse of a soldier.
Curse, curse, curse of a soldier,
Curse, curse, curse of a soldier,
Curse, curse, curse of a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

When first under fire an' you're wishful to duck,
Don't look nor take 'eed at the man that is struck,
Be thankful you're livin', and trust to your luck
And march to your front like a soldier.
Front, front, front like a soldier,
Front, front, front like a soldier,
Front, front, front like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

When 'arf of your bullets fly wide in the ditch,
Don't call your Martini a cross-eyed old bitch;
She's human as you are -- you treat her as sich,
An' she'll fight for the young British soldier.
Fight, fight, fight for the soldier,
Fight, fight, fight for the soldier,
Fight, fight, fight for the soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

When shakin' their bustles like ladies so fine,
The guns o' the enemy wheel into line,
Shoot low at the limbers an' don't mind the shine,
For noise never startles the soldier.
Start-, start-, startles the soldier,
Start-, start-, startles the soldier,
Start-, start-, startles the soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

If your officer's dead and the sergeants look white,
Remember it's ruin to run from a fight:
So take open order, lie down, and sit tight,
And wait for supports like a soldier.
Wait, wait, wait like a soldier,
Wait, wait, wait like a soldier,
Wait, wait, wait like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

I know Paul Johnson was not a soldier--he was an unarmed, defenseless civilian contractor --a distinction, I'm sure, the Muslim -Al Quaida Killers found easy to ignore.

After all, soldiers are sometimes allowed shoot back!!!!!

The comparison by our esteemed Senator from Mass. Teddy (snorkle boy)Kennedy of a simple beheading compared to the horrific torture of placing of a pair of women's panties over a prisoners head makes me wonder how the man could be elected for any public office..

I happen to come from a family of immigrants from Europe. I like immigrants.
But - it is loony to open the border to Mexico and close it to Canada.
When my daughter came back from Montreal recently, the line of cars was 10 miles long. It took 5 hours to get across from Canada.
I had friends from Ireland who had to leave the country and couldn't get papers - The guy was a medical researcher (MD) and his wife was a physical therapist.
Yet - our border to the south is wide open, and this is crazy when we have concerns about terrorism ....and the concerns are realistic.
It is nuts to allow Mexican trucks in, but make it hard for Canadians to visit....or for Americans to visit Canada.

The entire motive seems to be to promote cheap labor. The motto is: "What is good for large corporations is good for the U.S."

Large pools of very cheap labor would not be good for most of us.

This is a basic tenant of American Capitalism and there are many people in the US who believe this way. They are called "Republicans", and that phrase is the underlying platform of the Republican party and has been since the latter part of the 19th century.

It is also the basis of the Reagan "Trickle Down Theory" which was popular a few years ago, and remains popular in circles from which the "Trickle" originates.

heehee. This is the same old propaganda, my friend. Your use of words reveals your true intent. Thre old "they're takin american jobs" schtick. Truth is the US outsources most jobs, so you should be cryin' abt yer corporations selling yer job to India. Don't believe what they tell ya.

I like the inventive bit abt driving a nuke across the border, classic naievete there. If I were a terrorist, I thinnk I'd go the big stockpiles already in the US. Since we were like the 'winner' of the arms race, there's plenty if nukes, fissionable material, nuke waste, and CX gas stored all over.

rather than doing a line by line deconstruction of this fine example of purple prose, suffice to say yer spouting rhetoric freakin robot of others hate-fill thots in this matter. What is your real beef, man? What insecurities hide behind such "hate them" stuff?

Keith

I wonder how a full page ad in a couple of our major newspapers requesting
donations of that dreaded teddy kennedy torture device " WOMEN'S USED PANTIES"-- for shipment to Saudi Arabia and Iraq would go over now-a days.

"hate filled.. hate, hate, hate, hate.... insecure.. racist, racist, racist.." yada yada yada....

Same old BS put out by those that try to ignore the situation.

Your post shows a true ignorance of the situation, pollyanna thinking, and a parroting of mainstream propaganda.

You're obviously clueless about this, so let me clue you in.

You obviously have NO IDEA what is happening on the southern border.

BTW, it's not just Whites that are up in arms, but a vast number of Hispanics who have been here for generations and have assimilated do NOT like what is happening either and have the same issues with it I do.

The main jobs being 'out-sourced' are hi-tech jobs. The jobs the Mexicans are taking are blue collar jobs. These are the jobs that most Americans have.

A vast number of manufacturing jobs have left the country. Not out-sourced, just plain moved permanently. The ones left are getting harder to get and wages are dropping.

Service jobs, construction jobs, electronic assembly, etc, basically pay dirt wages in places like Phoenix that have been swamped with illegals.

As for your silly comments that they should just get a nuke out of an American stockpile, you have NO CLUE what you are talking about.

Do you know how intensely those things are guarded?

Did you know that the Russians are missing 200 ADU's (atomic demolition units - suitcase nukes) that they cannot account for?

Did you know that smugglers have successfully gotten things across the border as large as a live elephant? Yeah, an elephant, I'm not kidding.

I see you're in Indianapolis, which explains a LOT. If you lived in California, Arizona, etc, you'd be singing a different tune because you could see what's happening first hand.

You're far removed from the main front of what is happening, up there in Indiana, but don't worry, it'll eventually get north to you.

Mexico has an unemployment level that is beginning to exceed what the US had during the Great Depression. The government of Mexico is exporting to the US their unemployment problems and they are trying to use the US as a safety valve to forestall any real social change and possibly another Mexican revolution.

Mexico needs a revolution, because that is the only way things will ever change down there.

I've lived in Mexico, the real Mexico, not some Gringo filled coastal resort.

Mexico is the embodiment of the 3rd World and it is corrupt to the core. Units of the Mexican Army have been overtly helping drug runners. They also hand out maps and rations to illegals to help them get into the USA. They also hand out pamphlets explaining how best to take advantage of the US social services system.

They have poverty in Mexico which your average American couldn't dream of living under and few middle class Gringo whitebreads can even fathom. Yet, for all of the poverty, Mexico has a shocking number of the mega rich, billionaires who treat Mexico as their feudal kingdom.

Mexico is in many ways still a feudal society. You have the rich, and I mean RICH, like spending $30K just for vase to decorate a nook their house, and then you have the poor, with not a whole lot in between.

There's another term you need to get used to because you'll being hearing more over the years: "Commonwealth of the Americas".

It is what the Globalists want to implement. It's sort of like an EU but for the Americas. To implement this, the standard of living for Americans must be brought down to that of Latin America, specifically Mexico.

Mexico may raise some, but it won't be much, due to the concentration of wealth into the hands of an old, established oligarchy.

Now, if you don't give a lick about the sovereignty of the USA and it's future as a first class, sovereign nation, then enjoy the ride into the 3rd World. If that is not the case, then you need to do a wee bit of research into the situation.

Hey - let us keep it friendly in here.

It is my understanding that Mexico is getting worried about their jobs - they have gone and are going to Asia.

China is like a shark that is swallowing up industry and oil. People work for perhaps 13 - 15 cents an hour there. This has caused movement of jobs from Japan, the U.S., and now Mexico.

It is hard to tell how this will play out, but there are two big problems for the U.S. economy right now -
1. Outsourcing jobs overseas and....
2. A much larger problem is the result of new tech and computers. Computers are taking jobs that used to be done by people. With low interest rates, it is easy to justify buying computers instead of hiring people. Tax breaks also help.

One good thing that may come from higher interest rates - would be more jobs for people, and fewer for computers.

I suspect if Saudi Arabia were required to cover each American worker with a 5 million dollar life insurance policy or lose American workers then we'd see the end of Al Queda come quickly.

Arabs understand money.

Yeah, I've always tried to avoid political discussions on this forum, I get enough of that elsewhere. I've actually got nothing personal against Ferrous Wheel and we should keep it civil.

As for your comments on China, they are the 800lb gorrilla but they have problems.

They are low on resources, like petroleum and copper.

Their success is a catch 22. Their sucess depends upon industry moving there from the US and exporting cheap goods back to the US. This errodes further and further the US's ability to maintain their economy and to buy the goods the Chinese make. This situation is made even more precarious by the titanic national debt and trade deficits the US is ringing up.

China is becoming one of the world's biggest consumers of natural resources and they are way more reliant upon Middle Eastern oil than the USA.

What you're looking at in the long run is the collapse of the dollar and a subsequent economic collapse in the USA. This will lead to the worst worldwide depression in history, probably followed by the worst world war ever fought.

He looks like a family-type... guy. :(

I wish those bastards were fed with pig crap and then deep fried with bacon.

No virgins for them...

 I wake up this morning, cup of coffee in hand, checking out the latest doings on HI and promptly get very depressed. :(

I think I am going back to bed.

We've having a tougher time here in HI of late, and it is now more important than ever to treat each other with respect and peace. Disagree- fine.

I think a lot of the people who use 'corporations' as the boogieman are guilty of the same type of cliche and oversimplification they dislike on the other side of the poltical issue. The truth is that using a model of reality from either political side leads to problems.

I don't trust unrestrained capitalism- see the working shop horrors, mining conditions of a hundred years ago, nor do I trust the Government as a better business or distributor of goods and our monies.

People always swear the answer is somewhere, but you know what? I don't think there really is one. I think life is an untenable position. Made to be that way, if you adhere to the religious model.

I vote Republican. If we had the Democratic party we had in the 60's I might vote Dem.

And I'd vote libertarian except for the open border policy.

munk

Politics is not fun anymore. I plan to vote for the "best" person, and will cross party lines when I think that is best. I have done so in the past.

At the state level, I voted for Democrats last time, but not for the present Gov. Our Democratic governor in Illinois has been dysfunctional. He doesn't negotiate with the opposition and is autocratic. He claims that he cares about education, but slashes the budget for higher ed., and kills primary and secondary ed with his power grabs. We do not have a budget yet, because the gov. is an egomaniac. We have reduced support for education and human services, higher taxes (at the local level), higher fees at the state level and huge deficits. I bet that this sounds familiar. I will probably vote for the Republican candidate for Gov. this time - I wish that I had done so last time.

From my perspective, times have not been so great. My income has been flat for the past two tax years. Lower taxes at the Federal level have led to higher taxes at the local level. I am glad that my daughter is out of school...just look at tuition costs - an alternative tax on the middle class.

At the Federal level, I plan to vote Democratic. I can not cast a vote for "KING GEORGE." I would like to see some fiscal responsibility and concern for the rule of law.

Just my personal view - of course, you may see things very differently.

One of the most essential aspects of our Republic, and of the founders who formulated the doctrines which define it, is the Checks and Balances provided by the three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The domination of ALL three of these branches by one political party has the very real potential to be catastrophic to the country. The up-coming appointments to the Supreme Court will be in the hands of the next president. No one philosophy should have total control of all three branches...we need the discussion, the contrary opinions to thoroughly evaluate and weigh any issue that is of enough substance to concern our leadership at these levels.

So...what? Dunno, but if one political party can control the Decision making, the Law making, and the Validation of Law...then we have a different country than we have had since 1776. (But of course, everything but human nature has changed since 1776. Sadly or gladly, human nature is the constant we will always struggle with, individually or collectively.)

The other concern I have is the unabashed funding of elections by self-serving constituencies.

(Not arguing, just positing.)
