This is the kind of sword that would have seen action in the sphere of influence of Constantinople from approximately the 9th to 13th century A.D. It features a lenticular grind with a broad flat spine which heavily reinforces the parabolic cutting edge. In terms of form this sword draws inspiration from several examples of Byzantine Swords as found in Art and extant examples of swords. This sword is made from blanks custom made for Alae Swords by an Industrial Guillotine Maker, and due to the superior technology of the big industry companies involved in making the blank is by far the toughest and most resilient steel I've ever worked with.

I'm surprised no other action on this nice piece. I've spent my budget this month but I might make an exception if nobody picks this in the next day or so. :D

Hi Monk3yfist,

As swords go this design is intended for very heavy duty cutting and piercing of armour. Given the strongly reinforced edged and sturdy stock I used a tatami would be no problem at all. Glued components (grip wrap and grip) are affixed with two tonne epoxy and construction adhesive respectively. Tang is almost as broad as the grip and the pommel is peened. Steel is high quality Australian Steel, fittings also made in Australia of top quality brass. I use nothing but the best of everything (methods and materials) in my swords.

This is a sword designed for very heavy duty cutting and thrusting!

Kind Regards,

Bill
