A few months ago I emailed Alan Davis about building me a custom lefty folder. I wanted a modern flipper that looked hand forged and old as hell. I specified the blade steel and shape, handle materials, size, color, clip and hardware; just about everything. He took my specifications and turned them into a functional piece of art. I think he did an awesome job on this knife and I couldn't be happier!!!

The breakdown:

Full Ti scaled frame lock with Bronze anodizing
Heat colored hardware with a caged steel bearing system
Misery whip saw blade steel clip
Old circular saw blade differentially heat treated, hollow ground and stonewashed with Alan's signature rattlesnake file work
OAL 7.75"
Blade Length 3.25"
Cutting Edge 2.75"

If you're in the market for something unique and very well priced, I would highly recommend sending Alan an email!

How does it flip? Is it as tight as it looks? Love carbon steel on "modern" knives.

It flips like a dream on the bearings and locks up like a bank vault with a really early lockup.

It is my first non-assisted flipper so it took a couple of tries to figure out exactly how to flip it (using your thumb for the spring) but now that I have it down I can't stop playing with it.

One thing I forgot to do in the original post was to thank Alan for making such an amazing knife that I will never part with!

Just like always another Alan Davis folder that is as smooth as silk and locks up as tight as a drum! I have seven Alan Davis knives and they are all AWESOME! CONGRADS! Kevin :thumbup::thumbup::D

Alan I may need one in right hand version to add to my Davis collection! Will be in touch! Awesome knife!!

Thanks for the comments guys, I doubt this will be the last knife I order from Alan!!!

I added a picture of the lock up to the original post.

Early and sturdy for sure!!!

Nice knife and Alan does great work. Just wondering, are you saying that this is your design or, rather, who's design is it??

In no way can I claim it as my design.

I just gave Alan ideas on the blade shape, filework, finish and steel; handle length, thickness, material and color; clip steel and shape over several emails. I sent him emails with different designs and blade shapes. Some from his earlier works and some from other makers trying to give him an idea of exactly what I wanted. The general handle shape was actually taken from the knife you designed and he made.

He's the one that came up with all of the final details putting all of my fragmented ideas together so I would say it is his design.
