The original I had was a good bit darker. In fact when I first got this one I was a bit disappointed. After a day or two though, I've grown to really like this shade as well. At any rate, both are top notch for a Micarta nut like methat red micarta does look nice, almost looks like purpleheart wood
Thanks Forrest. It's just a great knife, the CPM154 holds a nice edge. I've only touched it up on the sharp maker once due to a day of excessive use, cardboard and the like. It's a wee bit beefier than my GEC 15's due to how Eric rounds the bolsters/body of the knife. It's just a stout knife for a single blade Jack and ebony just gives it a true traditional look and feelCriminy Paul, that is simply perfect. Is it possible you had the maroon old Westinghouse micarta originally? I did a couple of those for the first batch and they were a lot darker. The paper micarta knives like yours are a lighter shade but their colors are very consistent.
Eric
Now that you mention it, I do recall the first one being Old Westinghouse Micarta. Thanks for the explanation. The lighter shade is appealing in its own right and as I have come to expect from the few knives of yours I have is flawless in fit & finish.
A separate question, in your work in process photo yesterday is the wooden handled knife Cherry?
Easier to get than GEC? That really depends on which model GEC you are referring to. Easier than getting a full custom made, which is quality-wise what you are getting in a Albers Cut Co knife. Are Alber's knives any easier to obtain than GEC?
I saw the knife below on their website, sold out of course, but MAN I would love to purchase one like this:

Nope... probably harder because of the really low numbers. Are Alber's knives any easier to obtain than GEC?

Also, Real Knife Knuts snatch these up quickly and don't flip/re-sell them.

Thats right, you can have almost any 97 you want. Take your pick.

That is pretty funny - I was going to make a similar comment in a different thread but refrained.
Truth be told though, it was not easy for me to acquire all of these and there are still two that I am trying to hunt down.
