Stay the heck away this weekend. It's the Balloon Fiesta and everything will be totally jammed up.
There is a ton of stuff to do in Albuquerque, depending on your interests and time available.
The North Peak has the La Luz Trail, Tram, a road up from the east, and even a restaurant on top. So to avoid motorist crowds, choose the South Peak. Trail starts at the east end of Indian School. Spectacular!

The downtown museums are nice. There's the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, and right across the street is the Albuquerque Museum. The zoo is nice. Aquarium was OK when it first opened; I haven't been since then.
Did you know that New Mexico wine making pre-dates California's by 100 years? There are something like 40 wineries here now, including some in and near Albuquerque. My favorite was Sandia Shadows, but I don't think it's there any longer.
The Petroglyph National Monument contains close to 20,000 Native American rock art pictures. Only some of the area is accessible by trails, other areas you're on your own to climb up and down the lava escarpment looking for petroglyphs.
Travel time through the park is at least 30 minutes to 4-5 hours, though the average visit is 1-2 hours.
I've spent several days there and haven't covered the entire area yet.
Interested in early Spanish and Native American History, check out the Salinas Missions to the southeast of Albuquerque. Three historic missions with hiking trails, visitor center, driving tours, and ruins.

Similarly, there's the Pecos National Monument up by Santa Fe:
