Just got back from a camping trip to Va. and Rehoboth beach yesterday. My wife and I had the chance to stop in for awhile at Alchemy Knife and Gift in Winchester,Va. owned by BF member AlchemyPam. Folks, if you're near Winchester I truly recommend stopping in. It's a really well stocked knife shop with everything from productions to customs as well as a really great sword display. And of course Pam is great to talk to also:D The posted prices are what you would expect for a mall but if let her know you're a forum member, the numbers magically change, she gives a nice break to forum members. I ordered an executive model SureFire flashlight from her, cant wait for it to arrive.
Anyway, with good knife shops so far and few, if you're near the Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester,Va. off I-81 stop in and say hello!

Howdy Dave-
I was in Rehoboth last week too- Wish I'd known you were there- we could have grabbed a meal or a beverage. I'll be sure to look into the Alchemy shop the next time I'm up that way. Here's a shot w/one of the 3 beautiful blonde women who went to the beach w/ me:

Mike, you gotta be kidding! I was at R.B. from the 14th-18th! Damn buddy, would have been great to see you again.

I live about an hour from Winchester, Va (I'm in Manassas). Lifter, where did you go camping? There's some great wilderness camping just down 81 from Winchester in the National Forest.

Chris

Lifter,

Thank you for such a nice recomendation. But you missed the next days shipment. We were full to over-flowing!:D

It was great to see you again and to meet your wife. I really enjoy meeting people from the forums. (Besides, you guys keep my employees on their toes. ;)) Maybe I'll start a BFC wall of fame.

Thanks again and I'll see you at the Timonium Show,

Pam

Dave- sorry I missed you-
I hope to be back up in the city soon- I'll be giving you a shout for sure. Would have been great to see you.

Mike, let me know when you come up, I'll round up the boys for a little get together.
Chris, we camped about 19 miles from Winchester in Front Royal at Fishnet campgrounds with a bunch of friends. We've been meeting there for a long weekend every year since 1984.
You're right, there's some beautiful country around there, especially up on Skyline Drive. What saddens me is the Shenandoah river where we used to swim and fish is now posted because of PCB's.

Howdy!
Having met with both Lifter and Pam, I have to agree with half of what's posted here about those two.
Pam is really a great person... Lifter... well.... maybe it's just my Mango-esque sensuality, but that guy couldn't keep his hands OFF me when we met!
::::giggles quietly::::

Anyhow, I think this thread would be appropriate for TGBU, so I'll copy it there but leave this one open as well.

Wondering when the Lifterhickeys will disappear,
I remain,
VG
All flattered and disgusted at the same time.

Can you point me to more info about Fishnet? I'm trying to find some decent campgrounds with "facilities". My wife prefers manmade facilities to the natural facili-trees at our normal sites.

Yeah, it sucks about the Shenandoah. I have a friend that lives not far from Front Royal and he fishes that river a lot, but doesn't keep anything. The Potomac was supposedly in the same shape, but has recovered. I used to do a good bit of smallmouth fishing in the Potomac.

Yes, unfortuanatly the Fishnet campground is downstream from a Superfund site, Avtex Fiber, in Front Royal. It is actually a good thing the river is posted. You don't want to think about what you were exposed to back in the 80's from that water.

If you are going to get in the Shennandoah I highly recommend doing it south of Front Royal. Not only are there several other industrial facilities along the river in Front Royal, but that is also the first major town to being dumping sewage in the river, the water is a little "cleaner" upstream.
