Alcohol banned in California?

Ya'know, it is about time for the big one to slide California back into the Pacific Ocean. Let's try Denver as the new coastal city.
I was sure this would get reversed, but it didn't. I am all in favor of environmentally friendly stuff, but it can become ridiculous. In the 1960's California banned black socks saying they cause foot cancer.

Bacon! They are trying to ban f----ng bacon?!?! Lol

Please ban California,

We have the largest GDP in the nation, pay the most federal taxes , which of course if banned would dramatically increase all your Federal Taxes to make up the deficit oh and since we would control almost all the ports on the West Coast, we would just slap a tax on anything going to the other states.

Please ban California and take back all your family and friends who came here.

LOL

Have you thought about picking up the cheapest gallon jug of vodka or grain alcohol? Probably cheaper per oz vs denatured alcohol. I am curious how it would work. (Only being semi sarcastic.)

Touche Adam! Can we ban Chicago too? Not all of IL just Chicago. That S$%t hole offers nothing productive to our country.

I hear all those "family and friends" are migrating to Texas now. That ought to go over like a bolshevik at a rodeo. :D

Crown Fuel denatured alcohol is currently available at REI stores.
Ha! That actually answers the first thing that came to my mind: ca has a lot of hiking trails, one of the most famous being the pacific crest trail. Nasty, dry, hot, high climbs, (not to mention bears), but absolutely drop dead gorgeous. A very much favored ultra light weight cookstove is the alcohol stove (which believe it or not can be made out of coke/pepsi cans). So ... my first thought on hearing about the ban was ... "but what about the hikers?"...

I completely understand and respect your stance,

but if your wife really wants these and they can’t be found elsewhere, ship them to me and I’ll gladly forward them to yall.
Apparently she's over it. I asked her and she said "What shoes?" Thanks though.

I do have to admit that, looking in from the outside, it sometimes seems that CA is trying to legislate all risk out of life, and wonder where that mindset comes from? As the saying goes "you will never get out of it alive anyways....". I looked at some serving bowls the other day at my local asian market, and they had a CA warning sticker on them. Left me wondering if it was for lead (unlikely), or some trace substance at extememly low concentrations that i doubt i would worry about, but that CA decided to warn people about. An interesting study on just how much one (or a government) can actually control life...

Brings to mind horsewrights "OSHA approved cowboy...". LOL

Here's an interesting. If I order brass bar for bolsters from out of state it comes with that Prop 65 sticker. If I order it from a company in state, (most of the time), it doesn't.

Yep, California is a terrible hellhole, stay away. Especially from some specific coastal regions where I'd like to buy.

Funny thing about regulation. In order for something to be deemed "safe" it has to undergo a certification in which all materials and processes get evaluated. You know what is significantly cheaper than certification? A sticker. Therefore, the presence, or lack, of either certification or a sticker that says "CA thinks this might kill you" means nothing. The whole thing is now silly, meaningless nonsense.

I think they should redraw the border Longitudinally making the Left side Canada and the Right side the USA. California becomes part of Canada and we love regulations here!

We loose some the Maple Syrup but get some more surfing.

I dunno, I suppose it is a matter of which policies bug you more. About 5 minutes after moving here, I stopped noticing the "State of California has determined this product contains..." stickers.

On the other hand, I've never gotten a speeding ticket in 22 years here. Last time I was in Ohio, I had one less than an hour after renting the car.

How about those nanny states that regulate when you can buy alcohol or better yet it can not be sold on Sunday?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hey, Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith isn't political discussion supposed to happen in the Politics Subforum? Was there a Blade Forums rule change that I missed? If not, why is is happening here in Shop Talk? And why is the moderator of this subforum throwing fuel on the fire?

California has always been California; Republican or Democrat government.

But I guess a geography subsection could be handy at some point.
