Alcohol, Firearms and the Snow Emergency

might be because the emergency services might have a hard time getting to emergency's

On second thought, maybe less alcohol means less drunks on the road in an already dangerous situation. I still don't get the firearms restrictions.

the phycological tool on ones person during a storm like this could bring the strongest of people to things you would never think possible

looters and drunks?

dunno

Actually, I can understand the alcohol ban (sort of) for the reason already stated (fewer drunks for emergency services to deal with).

The firearms ban, however, has me completely baffled. If anyone can come up with a reasonable explanation for that, I would be very interested. They must have some reason that seems logical to them.

Its all about federal money and the city pushing there own agenda. If they can get a state of emergency declared they can access large amounts of federal money and grants.

from the sounds of the article its a blanket "state of emergency" policy. it makes no sense, but that's how I read it.

All right, I can understand the state of emergency and federal money tie in. I can even understand the thinking on the alcohol ban. But why the firearms ban? What does that have to do with it? Is this a New Orleans/Katrina thing? If I remember correctly, that firearms ban was ruled unconstitutional.

I'm really not up on this kind of thing, just curious.

Because the city (city council/mayor/police chief) is anti gun and is using the "emergency" to push there own agenda through for a short while.

it lets them say any armed citizen is a suspected looter and take their guns & gun rights away.
(Greensburg, Ks tornado is a good example of this)

Amazing. I might have expected this kind of thing in California where I live, but I always thought of North Carolina as having better sense on this kind of thing.

It was ruled unconstitutional. If this is truly happening, I suggest some North Carolinians contact the NRA-ILA and fight this. Or lay down and take it like ......... Never mind.
