Aldo`s steel

Thanks guys for all the replys . I had actually already decided to buy from Aldo for my next purchase before I started this thread , and especially since reading all the stuff about the steel company I used to buy from .
I did not know about his steel , but knew he could not keep doing what he does or have people say what they say if he sold junk or messed up orders and such , BUT I still wanted to hear what you would say about it . I really expected to hear exactly what you all have said . Again , thanks and I echo what has been said about Aldo by many . He deserves our support and will get mine .

What does pickled mean? I am very new to this and am ready to buy good steel for the first time.
Is the FG already annealed ?

Pickled & Oiled (or P&O) steel has had the mill scale removed chemically, and is then oiled to prevent rust. So, this means no ugly, hard scale to grind through. Anything you get from Aldo will be annealed and ready to rock.

When you order from Aldo, you are getting exactly what you ordered......every time. Yes, he is a fun and slightly crazy guy, but ultimately he is doing on a larger and more regular scale what out other knifemaker friends like Don Hanson, Ray Kirk, Kelly Cupples, etc have been doing when they are able and that is provide us with a consistently high quality product that is, at times, difficult if not impossible to get from regular sources. Because he is doing this on said larger scale, Aldo is able to have a fair bit this stuff made instead of having to search high and low for that elusive good steel, although he has become pretty adept at doing that too.;)

I love seeing my buddy Aldos name in my email every day because of threads like this.
Did you know ... if at midnight,... on a full moon...if you say his name,..... Aldo Bruno.....Aldo Bruno...... Aldo Bruno.... as your looking into a mirror...you can hear an anvil ring? Don't belive me? .....try it!:D

Good steel from Aldo doesnt cost.....it pays!!! (sorry for the theft Coop);)

I think the overall tone of this thread states something that I feel is obvious, but may be overlooked if you don't look past the 'fanboys'... Aldo runs his business with the two things that are the only real requisites for a successful business - passion and integrity.
Mr. Bruno's heart and mind are in this business of his, and it shows in how he runs it.

I buy my steel from Aldo, it just so happens that I'm lucky enough to call him 'friend', too.
