Yes he's good at making an entertaining youtube show. Entertaining enough, but "enjoy" certainly isn't on the long list of adjectives floating through my head while watching this.

It's like being an experienced surgeon seeing an entertaining youtube show where the host is like, "Let's see if we can take out this kidney and put a different kidney in its place!"

Alec Steele's show is better than that, the kidney analogy I just mean vis-a-vis watching the work with titanium. I mean he is probably going to successfully make a functional steel katana with decorative pattern-welded titanium slabs stuck to the flanks with a fairly weak nickel intermediate layer. It's a tough project. But ultimately his occupation is "Youtube show host/producer," with metalworking as the topic or hype vector.

My occupation is "Titanium weirdo."

In the beginning I wanted to do an internet show documenting all of my work but it didn't happen for a few reasons. I wish it had, because then waaaaay more people would know and care about my work. The sad reality is that a popular internet show = perceived subject matter expert.

The Man at Arms show is another example. The two titanium swords they made (of which people spammed me with links) were painful to watch due to the titanium aspect and all of the errors and misconceptions, when they were otherwise fun shows! I was like the only person on the planet cringing and facepalming rather than O-facing.

I should do shows live reacting to all of these other shows where they do titanium, talking about what they are doing right or wrong, HAHA! In the end Alec Steele and Man at Arms are fun shows and I like that they give it a go.

I'm still irritated at Skallagrim for calling me a "scam." I bet Scholagladiatora would be fair though. Some people have told me to send a machete to those intoxicated Dutch guys at Dutch Bushcraft Knives to test, but I don't have a spare machete.

Maybe a titanium knife in about an 8 inch blade length.
Wouldn't chop as impressively, but could hold up to all the batonning, bashing, prying and getting shot with the high power air rifle.

Still a fair bit of work to make, but less than a full machete perhaps.

That would be fun, but I wouldn't want to send out something "substandard" to be viewed by hundreds of thousands of people. Using titanium, something like a machete is simply way more potent and impressive for cutting and chopping. A 14" blade with some thickness to it would do the job, but 20" of thin, wide titanium razor blade is in another realm!

Although, a shorter blade would make for a neat choice of knife for folks who want blade length and toughness, but worry about pack weight.
Something like an ESEE-5 but titanium. Able to baton and pry, but very lightweight.
