For eons I have watched the young girls use those plastic handled paring knives at Subway, seemingly making TV adverts with how well they work. Yesterday... I had to ask... and the manager retrieved a blister pack remnant from the back that had held a dozen. Checking their site, they were $18.89-21.09 - a dozen! Buy six dozen, get a seventh dozen free. Most of what I saw were serrated - but I thought they were plain at the Subway. I did note the package she gave me was 'Item no. ASB-12N' where the site lists 'ASB-12' for the tanto-ish tip, 'ASB-0112' for the rounded tip.

Anyhow, you Mora-lovers have competition... and at a real throw it away price. Also, besides kitchen, crafts, rose bush trimming, these are useful for 'you name it'. I think I'd leave off the hand-to-hand with a croc or water buffaloe. Anyone try these? Hmmm, my m-i-law is a 'minitaturist'... maybe she needs a few...

Last time I went to Subway, I could swear they used Dexter-Russell knives. The Alfi looks interesting, though. I'm just a sucker for a cheap, utilitarian knife.

I've been using the cheap (less than $2 apiece when you buy a dozen and that's the only way I've seen them sold) German-made Fixwell knives in the kitchen since the 1980s and they're amazing. They just keep on cutting and slicing and never need resharpening. You lose one or if it becomes dull you just buy another for $2! The blade is quite flexible and it just doesn't rust!
