Alien invasion/Alien war movies and tv series

It is really hard for me to watch Alien Invasion movies cause i can take an educated guess of would happen if intelligent aliens ever came to earth. Our complete destruction. The Thing is one of my favorite movies though. The new one is written by Ron Moore from Battlestar Galactica so it should be good.
 
Anyone remember The Invaders ?? That show freaked me out when I was a kid.

SHS , you really did not like Monsters ? I thought it was a wonderfully refreshing break from huge budget hollywood films for once. For the low key special effects ithad it comes off very chilling , I thought.

Another vote for District 9 , great film. Battle LA , loved it. There really arent too many more films like that , that hasn't been mentioned.
