All about Bucklites and Selector's & 110's & 112's LTs and Slims ...

After looking at those sweet Ecolites, does anyone else regret passing on them when they were readily available?

😒

I do... I kept wanting to buy one.... But when I finally decided they were all gone.. Luckily a couple months ago I bought a green one and a Red one or maroon what ever color that is... And they were 1st runs no washer on the Blade pin....

Yep, I do.

When I saw them in catalogs, I was in one of my crazy times when I was not fully cognizant of the reality that the Buck 110 is the ultimate folding knife. I remember thinking, "Those are interesting, but I don't have a use for it."

rhino was wrhong.

Nope.
If a 110 or 112 has lite in it's name, I;m probably not interested.

O.B.
Old biker, It's all good. We all like what we like. I like just about any Buck I can get my hands on... I have a little bit of everything. Maybe a lot of everything. But Bucklites got me started collecting Buck knives... So they'll always have a special place in my collection.... I have never had a problem with one yet...

I still have my 1st one.. It was a 422 OD... I had Chuck Buck sign it. So I kind of put it up for a while...
WOW....my FIRST Buck knife was a 422 OD. Still have it. Purchased it at Service Merchandise in the 80's
It has the oddball 1987 date code with a dot in the center. $11 or $12 sticks in my mind.

service merchandise...had one round me way back......had a conveyor belt setup for merchandise for awhile......least one near me did.

Service Merchandise operated as a catalog showroom. After making your selection that conveyor brought your items to checkout. A leader in the retail market for many years the were finally done in by the big box stores. Didn't make it into the 21st century filing bankruptcy in 1999.

My first Buck was also a 422, which was a present from my father (I have probably mentioned that here before). I wore it on my belt in college and part of the way through grad school. I once used it to cut a free hanging 1" manila rope on the first swipe to show some blacksmith/bladesmith friends what was possible with a short blade as long as it was sharp and your hand was quick. They were surprised!

That's where I got my Victorinox Champion and my HP 11C (calculator) when I was in college. Loved that place!

I miss that place.

yep...I used to buy blank vhs and cassette tapes from there back in the late 80s and early 90s.......used to record films on TV cause i had no money to buy them and make mixed tapes.......they changed it at some point where some things ya grabbed off the shelf and paid up front...other things that were big items still came down the conveyor belt setup from the back room.

circuit city in the late 80s early 90s down here had that conveyor belt system and show room setup, for awhile but it changed pretty quick to stock in the show room....then died off as a store brand.

I didn't give the Ecolite the respect it deserved as a collectable when it first came out but mainly it came and went before I got a chance to get them. I really thought it would be around for many years and would be a favorite for advertising and safety award knives ect. Then when a very few drop points and odd ones showed up a few years ago I was in a cash flow low point and missed them too. I'm not sure of all the variations of colors and build other than the very first prototype did not have a metal liner. The best and coolest oddballs were only available at Factory sales and they were gone before I knew about them. I plan on getting cool variations if and when and show up..

I just found this image of a long discontinued Buck 112 Ecolite that was sold through REI, It's green!

They did green and maroon. I have a green 110 and a maroon 112. Paperstone is a great handle material. Feels good, tough, and durable.

Just recently picked up this 450 which has green 112 paperstone handles.

I don't know why Buck quit using it. Cost? Availability? Didn't sell? Buck didn't use it very long. I didn't even know Buck used it until they had already stopped. Fished all these out of the bay.
