all gecs in bone

glocktenman the blade is 3.5 in. with swedges. i guess you could call the shape a cross between spear & clip. in the fall i exstensibly tested one of these on cardboard & cutting deer ribs. i rebeveled to an acute angle & it did'nt chip or roll .the 1095 in gec is one of my favorite working alloys.
Thanks! That's good to know.

Thanks for sharing! I just received a GEC toothpick in that purple bone you call Grape (Mike at Collectorknives called it Plum, but six of one, half dozen of the other), and the color is really vivid... stunning, even. GEC sure is doin' us proud!

Puukoman,

It's probably the exact same color, but there is maybe a reason for the name difference. The "plum" ones are Tidioute and have 1095 blades, the "grape" ones are GEC and have 440C blades...only 8 mere made, and are serial numbered as 01-08, 02-08, 03-08, etc.

Learn something every day, Thanks JB.

Dennis- I think I may have already stated but Burnt Grizzly is my 2nd fav handle material (Burnt Stag is first of course). Thanks for sharing yours.

Oh, wow, that's interesting. Yes, mine's marked Tidioute and is 1095 (forced a really nice mustard patina on the blade and spring today at lunch!). Sounds like yours is really something special.
