All I Want Is A Paramilitary 2!

I got mine today and its damn nice knife. I have to say it is as I had hoped.
I'll have a Para I and Military up for sale shortly. :)

I was hoping you'd say that. "damn nice knife" I believe mine ships Friday, can't wait.

Got mine today, and this one is nice, let me tell you. Very well thought out and put together piece. Spyderco!

Here is a quick pic with the Para 2 with a few of my other favorite Spydie compression lock knives. :)

 I'm curious.
Since the Para-Military2 seems generally a refined and improved version of the original Para-Military with very close to the same specs (as far as I can tell), why does the original have a quite significantly higher MSRP?

I'm going to assume the original Para was priced to help offset the initial costs for tooling and such needed for the new model. Where the Para 2 is just a modification, maybe less costs had to be put into it?

Good question! I believe that Sal is trying to grow his production capacity at Golden. This may allow Spyderco to enjoy better Economies of Scale, or "lean manufacturing efforts" may have the line more effecient, or the expected sales volumes are projected to be high and lasting that pay back period on this new model's tooling is faster than normal.

One other reason could revolve around the compression lock. It is potentionally the highest cost item on the knife after allocated manhours. With the Superleaf coming and its high volume expectations, one wonders if the number of compression locks being ordered by Spyderco allowed for the cost reduction all on it's own?

It is hard to believe that material costs have dropped so the price reduction is likely based on some new ability to lower the knife's allocated costs such as overhead.

Things may get clearer on my second cup of coffee. :D Or Not!

I don't even have my first one yet and they are already being sold on the secondary market. How fair is that?

I will have them in-stock and ready to ship by the end of the month at a reasonable price. :)

I was thinking of grabbing one and sanding the G10 ala a Strider CC. Anyone done this? I think it would look great. If I remember correctly, aftermarket slabs are hard to come by...

I just got mine in the mail today. I ordered it last Wednesday from New Graham. I was in Golden on Friday and got to handle one. I was afraid it would be out of stock at the factory outlet (as some had stated on the Spyderco forum) so I jumped on one from New Graham before I left for Golden. It's a dream EDC for me. Great ergos, g-10, s30v, tip-down carry and the best lock for a folder. It's perfect. I can't wait for the sprint runs. Please make an Orange G-10 Para 2!!!!

I am waiting on mine from yourcornerstore.com they bumped my backorder to Sunday Sept. 05:grumpy:. I am thinking of changing my order to the Superleaf. It will be my first Spyderco and maybe not my last.

At least you have a preorder ship date. I'm just on preorder. Impatiently waiting...

I like the original much better... :foot: and I do have both; carried the 2 for a couple weeks - just to be replaced back to the 1. Moreover, the original will be completely phased out via the 2.:( I will say that the 'tip up' option on the 2 is very nice. Maybe I'm just stubborn...

Just my 2 cents...
