So I recently decided I needed a new axe as my Plumb framing hatchet is about wore out, a new woods knife since I havent had a new one in 25+yrs(since I was a boy scout) and I wanted a new saw. Then I broke my my backup edc CRKT M16-01Z,I was using my backup because my production Hiking Buddy went on a hike without me....grrr. so I need a new one of those too....

The first blade to arrive was my woods knife, I got an LTWK Genesis scandi in polished black micarta over orange liners, Dale at KC made sure it arrived quick, fast and in a hurry. I wanted to try a scandi for a while and figured this was a good as any a choice to introduce me. Im honestly not 100% sold on a scandi being my main knife in the woods. We'll see how it goes on a few outings but it may become my pack knife and my woods belt knife may resort back to a smaller flat grind knife like a LTWK NextGen

Ive got a Gransfors Bruks SFA enroute from RayMears as we speak, I picked one up whilst they were in stock, less shipped to my door in NJ, than just the retail price of the axe itself from any of the US sellers, whom didnt even have any when I ordered.

Ive got a SIlky Gomboy 240 coming to keep in my pack as a nice saw.

And Im still trying to decide between the standard and mini versions of the BenchMade HK AXIS(D2) for my daily carry to replace the CRKT/Hiking buddy. Standard sized one is larger than Im used to and mini is a tad smaller. Im leaning slightly towards the mini as it will print less when i wear my "good jeans" on a date with the wife, or other more social and less woods/work related activities. Any input on the HK AXIS from owners would be appreciated. (Im not replacing the Hiking buddy purely on a cost basis.)

Will update with more pics as more blades arrive :)

I have both the full size and mini HK models. You're correct in that the full size is a little big and the mini is a little small. Of the two, the mini gets carried occasionally, the full sized model is seldom carried.

My GB SFA came in. Great tool. awesome handle and edge, so easy to use.

Still havent picked out a new everyday blade. So many damn choices. Was set on the HK Mini Axis, then started looking at Ritter and Mini Grips and imagining micarta scales, 707, 485, 698.(the prices jut getting higher and higher...I Cant justifiably carry a ~$200 knife daily).I almost caved and bought a timberline off the tool truck since my SAK Officer just isnt cut out for my daily work and its showing its dislike of my routines and use. I need to solve this

Picked up a Benchmade 556 at REI. 20% off plus had $20 of dividend money. Ended up $54 out of pocket. Super excited. Gotta decide on scales.
