All purpose belt. What do you use?

Guys,
I never really like wearing a belt. It is hard to find one that fits both my civilian clothes and work gear.
With this being said, I can and would carry a knife on a belt at all times, I am a sailor, and expected to carry a knife, no? My MBC isn't exactly sailor worthy either

I want a belt that will fit most pants, but sturdy enough to carry a radio, a knife and a flashlight. I would like it to accommodate most tec-lock.

Price is no issue.

Would you guys please tell me what kind of "all purpose belt" you use?
How wide and thick it should be?
Leather or synthetic materials?
What kind of buckle you find most useful?

Thanks for the help,

Kevin

I have looked low and high for an amazing belt to carry all of my EDC items with comfort. Multiple pounds of gear, hard to explain. May I firmly suggest the "Blackhawk Riggers Belt" Wow what a belt! I flipping love it! This amazing belt is only 40$! I strongly suggest that you take the time to read the measurements. Let's just say that I am a "hefty" fella so I automatically ordered the large. For the first time in awhile I wish I ordered the medium. Even still I am beyond happy with it. In 12-20 years from now when I need a new belt I will reorder without hesitation

Not supremely "tacticool" but I like the old military & boy scout "webbing" type belt...allows for almost infinite adjustment and easy to tailor down to your size so you don't have a lot of belt overhang.

Kinda Like these:

I've seen them with brass hardware that would be okay for sailing.

A possible con...you really need 2 hands to manipulate and the buckle can be a little scratchy...

1.5" unlined Horween Chromexcel steerhide works well for me. Stiffer and more supportive than most purpose-made gunbelts and doesn't scream Potential Threat like riggers belts.

Rancourt used to make a good one (pictured above and around my waist now), but it looks like all they have now are lined ones. I use a cheap, minimalist Patagonia webbing belt for trail running, and it's more than enough to support a CGFBM or NMSFNO's bouncing around horizontally at the small of my back.

I wear Beltman belts. I have 1 horse hide, and one cow hide, both are 1.5" wide.

HighNoon Holsters makes fantastic belts!
Mine still seems new, other than well broken in, and I wear it everyday, at least 7-8 years now...
The holster is fantastic too...

I always wear a Maxpedition belt. I have one that is about 10 years old and still going strong. The only thing I've Ron across that I don't like using it with is steel clips, like on some IWB bolsters. It is VERY stiff. I can mount pretty much anything on it weight wise, and it doesn't fold over. Best belt I've ever picked up. It is Liger belt.

Spec-Ops Better BDU belt... inexpensive, simple, virtually unbreakable. Love mine

Another vote for Beltman! I have 3 primary belts from them that are 1.5"; one brown/tan horsehide (office belt), one black bullhide with pressed basket weave pattern (everyday), and one black Shark skin (dress-up). Quality is top-notch!!!

Wow, did not expect all of you guys to chime in.
Thanks, I'll analyze all the options suggested, and will let you know my choice.
Cheers

Thanks for that. I've been looking for "the belt" for a while. Just bought 2 IndestructiBelt belts

Sweet. I think you'll be happy with them. They are made right here in Indiana and there are quite a few of us using them. I don't think I've ever heard negative feedback.

I bought a Hank's Gunner belt last year and have been very pleased with it. It is about three times the thickness of the belt it replaced. I purchased it on Amazon, but regretted not checking out "Hanks Belts" website to see the larger selection. Mine came with a steel roller buckle and a brass roller buckle to switch at my leisure.

Remember however, that the sizes of these belts are actual size... meaning don't trust your pant size, get out a tape measure and measure your waist in inches. Clothing manufacturers have been selling pants listing sizes 3-4 inches smaller than they actually are for decades in the USA. For example, my Levi jeans are size 33 waist, but my actual tape measurement is 36". Also, with the CCW belt size chart, sometimes they suggest a larger size on their charts because they are figuring in an IWB holster. I ordered the 36" for myself from Hanks, which put the middle hole right at 36", which is my actual waist size.

Here's a picture from their website of my belt. I have the brass buckle. I would have purchased the stamped version but didn't know it was available when looking on amazon:

I will agree on this and add 511 tactical for a shorter height belt if you wear a small teklok.
