Not supremely "tacticool" but I like the old military & boy scout "webbing" type belt...allows for almost infinite adjustment and easy to tailor down to your size so you don't have a lot of belt overhang.
Kinda Like these:

I've seen them with brass hardware that would be okay for sailing.
A possible con...you really need 2 hands to manipulate and the buckle can be a little scratchy...
Check out what Duluth Trading has to offer, I only mention this company, because of the warranty, and I have been beyond satisfied with everything I have purchased from them. I believe we all love a great warranty.

Check this one out.... Made in Texas with mil spec webbing and an Austrian made 7075 aluminum alloy buckle. Very cool belt. Free worldwide shipping according to the website. It seems bomb proof... I'm ordering one in double thickness.

The problem with cobra buckles are they don't fit through belt loops so you have to thread them every time. My wife hates these buckles. I just don't like the Velcro rubbing when don't have a shirt tucked in.Check this one out.... Made in Texas with mil spec webbing and an Austrian made 7075 aluminum alloy buckle. Very cool belt.
