All purpose knife.

... performs better than many knives that cost three times its price!
And the screwdrivers are handy for tightening screws on fishing and camping gear too.

I could not agree more. Great slicers, very handy, very durable, and very cost effective.

Get a fixed blade like a Bark River. If you are going to clean game or fish it will clean up easier as mentioned in an earlier post.

For an all-round dependable knife I'd suggest a small-to-medium sized fixed blade -- Bark River, Mora, -- and a multi-tool for prying, cutting cans, etc.

Thanks for the feedback all. I have considered the buck woodsman. I think I read somewhere that you can use the bench-made griptillian to gut a deer? Does this sound plausable?

Of course you can. A guy I hunt with uses a mini-grip. I have even used a Tinker SAK to clean a deer though I prefer a fixed blade for easier clean-up.

Now I have a some dedicated cleaning knives. I have found a fillet knife and a Benchmade rescue tool handle deer for me.

This year for deer hunting season I was considering just a SAK but just like previous posts the clean up would be a nightmare. But something I would like to try...How cool would it be to say you gutted, skinned a deer using just a SAK...Boo haa!

I can't imagine that there really is any such thing as an all purpose knife.:jerkit:

If I were restricted in the knives that I could own, I think that my Victorinox "Recruit," Cold Steel SRK and Bob Dozier "General Camp and Hunting" would cover most situations, but even so, THREE disparate knives such as these wouldn't cover everything I use a knife for.:(

OTOH, perhaps I'm too picky!:D
