Right. I am looking for an OD green infidel so just looked for posts for them. But I should look only at the recent threads then? Not just the ones where it wasn’t marked “sold”? I am new to this so advice appreciated.ThisIsMrX

BladeForums and other similar sales sites have been plagued by scammers who post or send emails pretending to be a seller.
Do not respond to emails. BF treats email addresses as confidential. We do not disclose email addresses to members. The seller has no legitamate way to know your email address. Wait until the seller responds in the thread.
A favorite trick of scammers is to create an account with a name that resembles the seller's member name. Then they post in the thread and pose as the seller. So if someone posts in the thread, check their post count and membership level before believing they are who they purport to be.
Sellers can repost an item in a new thread after 14 days. So posting in a thread which is older than a couple of weeks has a low probability of success.
You will have a higher probability of success in finding a knife which is still for sale if you check threads which are less than 2 weeks old.Right. That is some really good information right there!! NEVER respond to an email! No legitimate member who is selling knives on this forum ever uses email or will ever contact you by email, ONLY scammers will. Getting a membership is the only real way to communicate with people. Itll give you PM privileges and show you're a bit more serious about being a member here. You will have a higher probability of success in finding a knife which is still for sale if you check threads which are less than 2 weeks old.
When you do post in a sales thread, quote the seller's post by hitting the REPLY link at the bottom right of the opening post. That will cause the software to notify the seller that someone has posted in his sales thread. This is especially important if you are posting in a thread older than 2 weeks.
Good Hunting!
