These are a squeeze style slip sheath. You gently squeeze the sides to open them and drop your knife in. Same for removal, squeeze and let the knife drop into your hand.

The three pictured below fit single spring knives and some double spring knives.

I haven’t made too many slips to fit modern locking knives. The flipper tab does pose a needed solution.
