The handle is made from a nice clean piece of poplar that's first run through a jointer and planer. Each piece is then ripped and then cut to length. After the handle shape is cut I route / sand the edges smooth, I then drill and bevel the hole for a lanyard and add a black chrome tanned 3/16" piece of leather. Leather is cut to size and the edges are beveled, the surface of the wood and leather are cleaned/scored and then attached with contact cement. They are then left in clamps 24hrs.
If you'd like I can load at no extra cost the strop with a bar type compound or diamond paste or you can buy one (please contact me if interested). Diamond paste would be for strop #1 and the bar type compound would be for strop #2.
Strop # 1 (SOLD) is 15.5" x 3" one side is 4-5oz cow hide (grain/smooth) side up and the other side is smooth side up 7-8oz horse butt. Asking $38 shipped.
Strop # 2 (SOLD) is 15.5" x 3" one side is 7-8oz cow hide (suede/fuzzy) side up and the other side is smooth side up 7-8oz horse butt. Asking $38 shipped.

Two sided 8" x 3" strops blocks (both sides grain/smooth side up) that were made to fit universal stone holders, can of course be used without stone holder. The block is made from two half inch pieces of poplar that were glued/clamped, cut to size and then sanded perfectly flat on glass using 3m PSA backed abrasive sheets. I then added a nice firm 4oz imported veg tanned leather on one side (little give) and on the other side I added a 7-8oz veg tanned horse hide/butt that has a very firm temper and very little give. Both were lightly sanded with 400 grit and then wiped down with alcohol. The veg tan cow takes sprays and pastes very well and I recommend using the the horse butt side as is (bare). I have some diamond spray and paste on had too, if interested let me know.
Approx. dimensions: L8" x W3" x H1 3/16"
If you'd like to try one asking $34ea shipped anywhere in the U.S.

This is a bare strip of horse butt/hide that is approx 9.5" x 3", the edges of the leather have been lightly burnished. This horse butt/hide has a nice firm temper and horse tends to have higher levels of silicate then cow leather. Can place on a strop you have or just use on the edge of a desk / work bench.
Asking $12ea shipped.
