I've always considered myself an accumulator and user of knives, rather than a collector. I'll buy knives that appeal to me, without trying to 'complete a set'. I have, over the years, accumulated a fair number of Great Eastern Cutlery knives that are now highly sought after, since GEC is unlikely to make them again any time soon. I bought them new, as they were released, never paying an ebay markup, and have used all of them. Quite a number are clad in ebony, partly because I liked the way it looks and partly because ebony was usually the least expensive option at the time.

After obtaining a TC Barlow in Glitter Gold Acrylic, I realized that it's my favorite handle material. After carrying it for a few months, my old ebony knives look so dull in comparison. I looked around on the internet, and found that I could purchase this material in blocks or sheets. I decided to take them to a local knife modder and have the ebony replaced. Why not? Knives are tools, meant to be used, and I enjoy using them more when they are sparkly.

Now I'm thinking of putting some glitter gold on a few of my vintage Jacks. Which one should I start with?

Wow, whoever did that editting...er modding, did a great job! Now they match the knife I did for you, LOL.
Love it! I when I realized the date this morning I headed to The Porch hoping to see what you’d cooked up for us this year. Was delighted to see this.
What’d you do with the ebony scraps?![]()
Ha! Maybe next year.I would of had combs added while they were apart lol
Hahaha! That is Fantastic!!! I'd love a Whataburger shield on a knife.Fantastic!!The glitter gold is so much classier than that boring old ebony.
I have to say, though, that it’s a shame you ditched the shield on the #15 Scout. That’s one of my favorite shields! So I thought perhaps I could suggest a fitting alternative.

Whataburger is a Texas-based chain of hamburger shops. It figured into my very first April Fools thread, years ago:What's a Whataburger?![]()

So it takes a keen, stable edge, and performs without chipping, but of course I wanted to know if it could withstand some hard use. It was time to really test this knife. I picked up a rock out of the garden and decided to give it a try.

A well placed strike on the spine with a hammer, and it split the rock with minimal damage!

Minimal damage to the knife, I mean. The rock was in two pieces.
I am really amazed by the strength of this stuff.
Especially if it had a comb!LOL Got us again, and in the knife world, it's a typical "April Fool's" prank where something is shown as a laugh, that actually ends up being something people would buy if it actually existed. Not going to lie, I'd be all over a BF 86 in GG.
