All those Broken REKATs - What's the Verdict?

It's been about a month since the last bout of "REKAT's QC sucks!" threads, so I'm dying of curiousity - Bob, what's the status on the knives that have been returned? Have they been fixed? What was wrong with them? Was it a manufacturing problem, or a operator problem?

I'm sure everyone would like to know what the deal is, since this seems to be a recurring theme...

You mean you haven't gotten anything back? No one has sent in their defective knives for repair? That's weird indeed.

I really wish people would send the defective knives back. Mr. Taylor has stated that he will stand behind the knives. If I had a defective knife, I would surely send it back. I have never had to use REKAT's customer service, but understand it is top notch. Also, sending in these defective knives may help QC. If there is a specific problem that seems to be common, sending the knives in may result in a solution on future runs. Sending the knife back in is the right thing to do. It helps all of us in the long run. I cant blame anyone for complaining after buying a $100+ knife that is defective, but why complain and not give REKAT a chance to make it right? I urge all who have defective knives to send them in.

I own four REKAT knives and in my opinion the quality is excellent. Never any problem. The only complaint I have with REKAT is their availability. Tough to find sellers that have any on stock - especially the BLACK T with SERRATED edge varieties!

I've just awakened to this issue of REKAT quality. I have a measly 3 datapoints to consider (myself and 2 other REKAT owners), and all 3 have been fine.

Obvioulsy its possible some people have gotten lemons. But the fact that people seem to have been 'tinkering' instantly makes me leery, and a recent dinner with an old friend does too. Howso?

I love this person dearly, but I have YET to go out to eat with him/her and have the meal be okay. Sometimes its a legit gripe ("Sorry, I said no mayo"), sometimes its just plain out-of-line. Either way, its funny how his/her meal is always 'wrong' and mine almost never is. Odd, that.

No problems here and I have even broken out the "tools" to refinish my Carny.
I love this knife and have full confidence in it even though it is a folder.

The original Sifu I had had a bum lock (yep, it played with your mind seeing the Rolling Lock fail a spine tap

) As soon as I found out about this, I immediately called Bob and explaned to him what was going on. He asked me to ship it back and that he would get a new Sifu out to me the same day. Sure enough, a couple days later my buddy in the big brown truck paid me a visit

though this was a while back, I want to thank Bob again for his speedy service. He definitely stands behind his products.
