All those who wantec an A.G. Russell giant lockback sunfish...

I carry mine all the time. Its not really as big as it seems. If you want a heavy duty knife that cuts like crazy, looks good and has good ergonomics there it is.

I saw that one. It's currently on sale on the "bay". I believe he's asking around $120 for it. Personally i think $50 I'd a bit much for a polishing job.

I might get an AGR Sunny if it's a bolster/linerless model. :D
Thanks Esav. I'll check out the GEC Sunfish.

Lx, I love this knife, but also hate the china part.... Does it actually say china on the knife anywhere? I'd love one of these, but couldn't bear it if it is marked china

I don't have a sunfish model, bit I have an AGR Barlow & a Jack. Both are marked China on the backside of the tang.

AG runs an up front operation. If it is made in China, I'm certain it will be so marked.

I got a couple of his China-made knives on my want list. They just haven't made it to the top yet.

8Cr13MoV at a Rockwell 58 will hold an edge better than Buck 420HC and quite a bit better than Case Tru-Sharp, but not as well as D2 or 440C.

I have one of his Wharnecliffe sowbellies and a medium Barlow. The hollow ground Barlow is my current EDC. In the months I have had it I've only touched up the edge on my fine Arkansas and stropped it on leather and it keeps on slicing well. I like the hollow grind a lot better than I thought. I agree with Knarfeng that its better than the case TrueSharp.

Like Knarfeng says. A.G. runs an honest outfit. He knows that people care about where something is made so he marks it as such even if that might cost him sales. So it does say China on it.

He himself regrets the fact that he can't get things like this made in the US. But he's often commented that it's just not possible to make them to the same quality AND still sell them at a price where he can actually make a profit of them when they're made in the US.

Gents this thread has now passed beyond the acceptable posting limits in this forum.

All further posts will be about the knife, not where it was made, or the thread will be shut down.
