I wanted to draw attention in my home base sub forum here at blade forums to my other thread in the multi tool sub. Ive had some troubles with a leatherman P4, and so far am recieving very timely and excellent customer service.

They have extended every effort so far to right the situation in my opinion, when I outright stated to them I could understand if Id given the P4 a little more than its share.

I wanted to put this here because I feel outdoors folks probably use thier tools more, and possibly rely on them harder than the average person, and I didnt want this gesture of service to go unmentioned.:thumbup:

I know where my next multi tool will come from.

Hope this is O.K. with the PTB!!

I've had a Leatherman Blast for a couple of years now, no problems at all. I did break off the tip of the screwdriver but that was my fault (I was prying with it - dumb dumb dumb) I think you pushed that little bugger a bit too far.

VERY glad to hear that Leatherman is doing you right on this deal. It's smart on their part, and you're doing us, and them, a favor by posting all this. Good news about a company I already liked!

Glad to here there customer service is as good as there product!

I've never had to deal with customer service at Leatherman, because, i've never had a problem with any of there tools after 10+ years of everyday use. I've only ever owned two of there tools though, an original supertool that I retired two years ago after 9 years of faithful and flawless service. Now I'm carrying a Wave, that I absolutely love. And I use these things hard, on a daily basis.

Until Leatherman does me wrong, I will never buy another brand of plier based multi-tool. Of course Victronix still makes the best knife based multi tool, in my opinion.

I used a LM Supertool 200 everyday at work for several years. I'm a service tech, the tool saw some real hard use and was put away wet more times than I can count. The plier jaws became loose making cutting wires more difficult so off it went to LM. I bought a new LM Core while it was being repaired because I just couldn't be without:D I got the Supertool back within a week or two with new pliers installed.:) It's every bit as nice as the day I bought it. Love em.

I love my chargeti and went and picked up a surge i found on sale and bought my brother a wave a while back. I have compared other brands and imo leathermans are top notch. If Macgyver had a leatherman he would have ruled the world.

Not a big fan but I do have a SOG Pocket Power Plier and a couple Vic Spirit tools. The SOG has useless blades but the pliers make good tweezers and it's the lightest I've felt so I do take it in the woods, but rarely if ever use it.

I'm more of a Vic Soldier/Pioneer/Farmer kind of guy!

I carry a Leatherman Kick every single day, and feel naked without it. Absolutely zero problems so far, and it has certainly taught me the value of a thin blade for fine cutting tasks. And so sheeple-friendly!

I've been using a LM wave for the past 5 years working ems Her in NY the thing is still going strong.. it;s the one folding tool/knife I have that I've never had a problem with no matter how much I abuse it....

I must say that I've never had an issue with any of my Victorninox tools but I will concede that Leatherman has top notch customer service. Heck for that matter so does SOG (another tool company I like) and Gerber (I personally prefer Leatherman, but Gerber's customer service replaced two broken Gerber multitools when I was in South America).

I think customer service is what keeps customers coming back, but it's nice to know that despite the warranty or service, you probably won't need it. It sucks when your multitool breaks when working on commo-gear on a very remote jungle mountain outpost in Southern Ecuador that only received visits and mail once a week...good companies fix problems with thier products, great companies make products that don't have problems to begin with:D

Thanks for sharing, it's good to see an American company that is responsive to their customers.

I have used Leathermans for many years and have always had great luck with them. I did have a Gerber mutitool once too and while good, just couldn't take the place of a LM. Good company, great products.

I carry an original SuperTool. I switched to a Surge for a while and returned it to the retailer after a few weeks. The added weight wasn't worth it.

I'd like to hear what the consensus is on the best SwissTool.
What are your models and thoughts on these?

I have a SwissTool. Because of it most of my 'real tools' stay in their box. :-)
(well until I need a hammer or such) Pretty heavy in my book for daily carry.
I carry a Vic Soldier as my EDC. Been thinking about picking up the Vic SwissTool Spirit.

I carry a Wave and bit kit in my commute bag and EDC a Skeletool CX. I've had the Skeletool for a few months now and it's an extension of my hand. It has save me many a trip across the shop to get a screwdriver, pliers or wire cutter for a quick job. Pops a beer cap well too :D

I wish they made one with a saw-- it would eclipse my SAK Trekker pretty quick.
