PS- what part nDn does one have to be, to be considered Native American?
One drop of blood if you follow the old ways.:D

:) Didn't know if 1/8 qualified...
Sure enough!:D Actually John it's up to the tribe to determine who they accept as ndn or not even though the people may generally feel differently. Some tribes only accept people with 1/4 CDIB which is Certified Degree of Indian Blood. The BIA issues all of the CDIB cards. I've seen Cherokee CDIBs showing 1/3668's* degree, for example, but the Cherokee are rare in that aspect.:D

*Not an accurate division.:p

They were done so wrong...One of the saddest moments in US history, surely.

Sorry I hijacked your thread, DT.

knew a guy ,he was just over 1/3 Navajo/ Dene and a little less then 1/ 8 Cherokee his cdib card enrolled him as Cherokee because of the high degree of blood required by the Navajo
so if he walks like a Navajo
talks like a Navajo
and looks like a Navajo

then he's a Cherokee

go figure

Gee, if it's a "one drop" test, even I pass. There's some Cherokee back there on my father's (southern KY) side.

John
still going on
the US is spending BILLIONS to restore
power and running water to Iraq and Afghanistan

yet I remember the 2 years out of 20 when we Had power in San Carlos

and the BIA stole my money ( they say lost but ...)

hmmm..mebbe that's why I got invited to Inipi (sweat) once...

Keith

I like Yvsa's quote: We all live on the Res, some of were just here first." Kinda puts freedom in perspective, eh?

I thought the quote was "We all live on the Res, some of us just don't know it yet"

Either way...someone, somewhere else, is in charge...

I'm 1/8 nDn. Never figured out how to prove it though. My great grandmother was full Cherokee.

But I do know what happens when I drink whiskey if that's any indication. :D And that's why I quit over 25 years ago. :p Beer is a different matter. ;)

I'm part European nDn (Gypsy)...whiskey is great, while beer sets my temper up. Weird, eh?
