Hi I'm new to the forum!

Hello!!!

Does anyone out there know where you can get an Allen Blade Bushcrafter knife? I've done numerous searches and the results that come back are always threads in forums... not a web page throughwhich you can order the knife. Hmmmmm..... or am I being a bit dumb?

Anyone????

Cheers,
Tollan

I don't know what's up with Allen Blade at the moment. But he's had serious problems in the past, not delivering on orders and not refunding money. He did have a website until recently, but says he took it down until his backlog is caught up.

You can check out "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" section for some background on his 'difficulties' and peoples' experiences with him. He also has quite a following over at the British Blades forum, although I think he's wearing out his welcome over there too.

Awaiting the moving truck...

Get it from somebody other than the maker, and you'll probably love the knife.

I just checked over at British Blades to see how he's doing. He's currently recovering from pnuemonia and catching up on orders from people who pre-paid and doesn't expect to take new orders until March or April.

The thing is, it's one emergency after another. He sent e-mails to some people asking them to pay upfront for ordered knives due to a medical situation in his family. (I wouldn't comment on any of this, except I received one of those e-mails so have first-hand knowledge. I declined the offer). Part of the deal was that if they paid up front, their orders would be shipped earlier than those who didn't. I don't know if anyone has received their knife or not. Now it's pnuemonia that has kept him out of the shop for three weeks or longer.

If you can find an Allen Blade knife from an aftermarket source, I think you'll be very happy with it; I've never heard anything but praise for the quality and craftsmanship of his products. If you do order from Allen Blade, you may eventually receive a knife, but if you have a specific time frame in mind you'll be disappointed.

Personally, I ordered from him based on the low price and excellent reputation. If I receive a knife some day, I'll be thrilled. If not, them I'm not out since I didn't pay anything up front.

Good Luck in your quest,
Bob

Order from him at you own risk. Never ever send him money up front. He's cheated many people here and used every excuse imaginable, including illness.

I can't imagine why anyome would even want a knife from someone such as that.:jerkit::barf:

Welcome to Bladeforums! Do not under any circumstances send Allan Blade any money unless you receive the knife from him first.

Just as an FYI on the knife - I managed to dink the edge of an O1 Bushcrafter pretty easily - it sharpened out easily enough, but left an ugly blemish on a new blade. I traded that blade off to someone who would use it as a "bushcraft knife" and not expect it to perform like a combat knife, or in other words, would maybe not expect it to perform like a knife - odd tasks at random intervals.

I was pretty pissed off the knife edge deformed badly upon dynamic contact with a cedar 4x4. It was new and was now pretty useless without a solid re-profiling of the edge with an EZ Lap bench hone. Even then, the knife looked like Cliff had used it to attack a carton of ball bearings and found one dead-on, leaving a spot looking like a bubble on the edge.

The kydex was pretty well constructed, but between the knife being in my view a lot less knife for the money than a TOPS or Schrade and the maker having what can best be described, delicately, as a complex penchant for lying thru his teeth about delivery dates and whether or not Joe Chen will ever get his money, I'd honestly go elsewhere without looking back.

YMMV of course, but why take the chance if you know the history?

Here is a link to "one" of the primary threads that shows Blades piss poor behavior.

I wouldn't place an order for "free dirt" from Blade. He may make a fine blade. . . .but his BS from the past and current easily outweighs that.

He talks of "his bad luck." Shit, if not for "bad" luck, that punk would have no luck at all !

Allan no longer has a website. He is not taking orders at this time.

For him to say that if someone paid him upfront they would get moved ahead of people that ordered before them shows you just what kind of integrity he has.

All these medical emergencies he is having sure sound like the same kind of excuses he was giving 2 - 3 years ago when he was unable to supply knives that had been ordered. Deja vu.

Parker ,

ANd knowing your a mad dog crooney, i think your full of crap myself.

but continue on, makes no diff to me.

Good advice about the TOPS knife though,,,, just be careful you dont show them any designs you want to keep as your own.

Allan seems to have no problem making comments to another maker about the quality of his heat treating, but when someone comments about the obvious poor heat treatment on an Allan Blade knife, he says the guy is full of crap. Typical.

Wow... thanks for the info guys!

I read other threads from others on other forums who sung the praises of this knife... comparing it to the infamous Allan Wood Woodlore knife aying that it was a very good alternative. I will think twice about this now!

Would anybody suggest any good, affordbale alternatives to the woodlore knife? General bushcraft uses etc...

Oh, Allen, in the event you forgot to mention it, when Kevin fired you, he went out to your car to find it loaded with his tools and patterns. How did they get there?

Yup, I do know him. On the other hand, I guess a few of us know you too.... and what the heck is a "crooney?" Is that some sort of singer on a familiar term?

Tell you what, pay Joe and find an honest way to make a living. Then all you have to see is Keith or Cougar bringing this up-top once a week, instead of some poor guy asking about this Allen Blade character so we have to tell him out of conscience.

And yup, the edge dinked on stroke number one. Too bad, too, the knife had promise until I used it.

Keith, I want you to know I appreciate the fact that you search and find and bring them back. That can be a pain, so thanks.

i would sooner have a steve corkum knife than any allen blade knife, which imho speaks volumes ..............at least corkums stuff isnt just the run of the mill same old stuff, allens is the same as made by 2 dozen other people (at least).

also cant figure why anyone would want one, irregardless of how "great" they might/might not be, way too many honest smiths around to patronize and no bad bad karma to deal with to boot..

he's a theif and owes lots of folks money, why some people aspire to have one of his crummy knives amazes me.

but, to each his own.

The reason that people want Allan's knives is probably the price. People are often seduced by prices that seem to good to be true.

LoL Parker,,,,,,,, yes i just went to california to rip off the world famous McClunk ,,,,lol Parker i could make his style of knives in my sleep , why do i need his patterns or tools,,,,,,, seemd Kevin came to spokane and moved my ENtire shop to his house in tehachappi,,,,lol yes i really needed his tools,,,,,muahahahahahaaa,,,,,.lol

that must be why Terril Followed me to there bank in tehacappi before i left and GAVE me almost 500.00 because she felt bad that KEVIN had broken his patnership deal with me before i left with my daughters, people always give folks who Steal designs and tools money before you leave,,,,,lol

I bet terril would have gave me more if id have told her of KEVINS little escapade at the strip CLub in LA after we attended the Gun Show at the La county fairgrounds on the way back to tehachappi,, lol

As for SIFU,, you know i could really care less what you think, and your probably right you do deserve a Corkum knife,,,in fact go buy 3 or 4.

ANd Keith you certainly do seem to be infatuated with me, you may want to write a novel you know so much about me,lol

lets see my greatest fan base here is , KEITH, SIFU, parker, wolfman, who is the other one, oh yea GIGGY , and interestingly enough ive neve had any dealings with any of them...lol

but anywho,,,, as Far as Joe is concerned i just sent him 3 payments in one month a bit ago, and as soon as i get folks overseas i have knives to finish for finished i will send him his remaining amount.

As far as Rob simmonich GOes he was sent his TALONITE bars back along time ago, i dont owe him a thing, done deal and over with .In fact thats why i told folks no more talonite knives because i had sent it all back to ROB.

And as of today i have banned Bladeforums from my browser so i dont have to look at the stupidity from folks who never dealt with me in print anylonger,,,, so it was nice knowing you all,,,,, but i have loads better things to do with my time, and JOE CHEN if you want to correspond with me about your PAyment that remains, COntact my at my EMAIL , you have it , so use it . If you dont here it is again,,,,,,, bladecutlery@comcast.net

Two reasons why I've never dealt with you.

1. I purchase high-end custom fixed blades from trusted dealers and makers

2. You ARE a THIEF !
