Unused. Its one of two I had made about 4 years ago. Zone hardened 5160 carbon steel, 7" blade. OAL = 12". Double guard of alloyed brass. Handle - black canvas micarta. Pommel - 6061 aircraft grade aluminum. Blade finish - full flat graound distal tapered to the point with - as mill rolled flats and 220 grit main bevels. Bead blast finish coated in a hard coat lacquer for corrosion protection. The excellent sheath is right hand straight drop kydex. No picture. Those of you who know his stuff, know what it looks like. I would be interested in working a trade for one of Bill Siegle's fine camp knives.

How about an Ivan Campos tricorn fighter? Its pretty freakin' angry, in fact it was so pissed off at spending all that transit time going from Brazil to Florida that soon as I let it out of the pouch it stabbed right thru my favofite pair of pants.
wish I had a pick for ya, kinda like a lighter faster szabo UUK with three edges.

Not familiar with his stuff. I picked up a Siegle kitchen knife recently and was quite impressed with the heft and attention to detail.

Ivan is very active on the makers forum. He has a website which I don't have to hand unfortunetly.
it does qualify as angry.

Ivan's website is at: http://www.bladebazar.com/ivancampos.htm

There are qualities about his work that reminds me of Bill Siegle's wares: flat ground, differentially hardened 5160 steel at decent prices, which equals strong "bang for the buck" for the buyer.

If you're not familiar with his style, check in The Gallery forum where he occasionally posts pics of his knives, Shop Talk - BladeSmith Questions and Answers forum where he is pretty active (as noted above) or in the knifemakers' For Sale: Fixed Blades forum where his wares are sometimes available.

Miguet, I know whatcha mean about Bill's kitchen knives -- very utility driven designs -- skinny shoulders above a slightly toothy very thin edge and really pointy tips. Lots to like there.

When you say you "picked up a Siegle kitchen knife recently", does that mean that you bought/acquired one or that you got to handle one?

I bought it. I owned a Siegle "Ranger" some years ago. I could have demolished a California tract house with it. Unfortunately it was confiscated from me while I was living in Japan.......along with a bunch of other knives that were deemed "illegal and dangerous weapons". If I had put them in a kitchen drawer without their sheaths, they would have been fine. Jeez. Don't get me started.

I had an Allen Blade 'Light Ranger" once. 5" of 5160, around 9" overall. Made in the mid 90's. Ended up selling it. Nice piece, just a bit too big for my needs.

I looked for 2 hrs...no luck. Lot's of good things said about the blade...but no pic's... BTTT4U

Can never discount the possibility that all of the other ones were bought up by an eccentric investor who destroyed all but two. Mine and his. He thinks he's got the only one. Well I've got news for him.

I wish we still had the reputation point system, as I don't want to muddy up your thread with my comment, but...

I just wanted to say that that line was one of the funniest I've read on BF in a long time! :D

THANKS! :)
