Hi All,
I'm not familiar with Allen Blade or his work, so he may well be a charlatan, but it seems to me that his mistake was accepting payment for knives before they were ready.
When you order a knife from a custom maker you must be prepared for a long wait. Especially if that maker turns out only meticulously handmade pieces or is only a part-time maker. Ed Fowler and Jerry Fisk come to mind, and makers like Don Fogg won't even take an order.
I found a folder on the internet over two years ago that really caught my eye, it was made my Kirk Rexroat, but it was already sold. I wrote him an e-mail to see if he could make a similar one for me and he wrote back that he could but that since he had a full time job the wait would be about 12-16 months. Since then I surely thought he must have forgotten my order. Only a couple weeks ago did he send me an e-mail letting me know my knife would be ready soon.
Maybe the situation is the same with Allen Blade. Has he ever cheated anyone other than by making them wait on an order? If he hadn't taken your money up front would you feel the same way about him?

Please do some research on the Forums regarding Allen and Cory Blade. These two are not like other makers. Allen took deposits on knives and materials and never bothers to finish or ship a knife. I can live with long lead times. I just recieved a knife after a 6 year wait!! I have orders with Fisk, Emerson, Hartsfield, Bagwell and others that will take years.
I have an order with Allen that will never be filled, he's offered me my deposit back. Very Generous. Still waiting.
They have been banned on all the Forums, in fact started their own but like the knives it didn't last long. I mention Cory above because she was going to handle the business and Allen make the knives. See how well thats worked. The first brilliant act of this dynamice couple was to move West because shipping materials East is too expensive. Right, moving cross country is much cheaper, duh.
The custom knife industry is huge and growing. What a shame to have to waste time on the likes of Allen Blade.

I wouldn't know Allen Blade from a gay Blade from a gillette double edged razor Blade, but I do know that there's a more appropriate place on the Forums for this kind of discussion. Two pages? Has the adult supervision taken a long weekend?
