These were $220 several years ago. Once I found my size I ordered seconds only from Allen Edmonds. US made as well for the styles I bought. The seconds still can be “recrafted”. I have never noticed the flaw either. (No I am not sponsored by AE

I don’t wear slacks anymore at work so these may sit with a couple other pairs. I guess my point is if you have a need for dress shoes (which most don’t these days), the seconds from that brand are a good choice.
