Almost a year.

In this coming month, my stockman that Dan, Grand High Muckba of The Cult, gifted me this great lightly sprung knife, will be a year with me. Over the past year, it's been a 95% edc, augmented on occasion with a SAK or once in a while for black tie events, replaced with a Sardinian resolza. The patina has developed a nice ever changing bluish pattern, that seems to change after every apple or BBQ event away from home. The knife has been used for too much to list, from opening boxes and mail, to garden use. It's been down on the shores of the Chesapeake and up in the Shenandoah mountains, doing field kitchen and snack duty, and sharpening hot dog sticks for the young ones.

The zebra wood gets a rub down now and then with a soft rag and oil, buffed up with a clean cloth after. The whole knife has been great, and if I had to pull a Bilbo Baggins and walk out my door with a small pack, I'm sure this knife will be in my pocket. It's defiantly going to be with me when I drive out to California this summer.

Here with my normal EDC. Love the sheep foot blade for general use. Sometimes I substitute the small Leatherman micra that fellow forumite Dave (pinnah) cursed me with by some New England forest hoodoo.

Hello Jackknife,

Pretty knife and I am happy that you are enjoying it!

I show my husband many of the pictures that are posted on this forum and I just showed him yours.

My husband carries an older stockman knife. (Schrade-NY) The stockman style of knife is one of his favorite ones! He complimented your knife too.

Thank you for sharing.

Carl my friend, I am always glad to see a thread about that Northwoods and the TLC you give it. I don't think I can ever repay you for changing my stubborn mind on small knives. Enough talk about vapor locks though, that is a long ways off.

Bilbo forgot his handkerchief in his rush to go on his adventure, remember, don't do that, you don't want to be out and about without your banadana. I can see you now, using that stockman and resolza on giant spiders in the woods of western Maryland ;). Actually, they would flee in fear of your walking stick!

And I'm not dropping my peanuts in Mount Doom, the Precious sometimes hops out of my pocket, but I find it. It calls to me...

I need coffee.

Darth Vanadium, Grand High Muckba of the Cult of the Peanut.

Dan, Grand High Muckba, no I will always have my two rolled up bandanas in pockets. We need to use our knives to murder some good Texas BBQ brisket!! Meat juices are good for patina.:thumb up:

The stockman has been an instrument of manufacture in more of the Carl's Third Leg hiking sticks. The sheep foot blade was a handy bark skinner, and I sold some more sticks at a local craft show.

They are very powerful. Four legged creatures do not like that one you gave me, I've dissuaded a few critters with it. It's supported me on my nightly one mile endeavors since November. Most of the time my 1080 lumen Zebralight headlamp and noise from my iPod let bipedal and quadrupedal neighbors know I am coming through, but not all of them will leave you alone.

I am looking forward to some bbq and ciders with you man. Far too long, we need to get together more often. I barely have anything to do, but everything is still rushed!
