Gonna spend tomorrow with Jody Muller and his father doing some damascus (okay, me standing back and watching them making damascus. :D )

Sunday morning, I'm heading up north to go after those wily ducks with my cousin and father.

So what are you guys doing?

Have a safe one!

Just back from the cruse. It was great. Looking forward to the kith 2005. Saw the list. Probably won't start it till after the December custom show in Tomonium. Been itchin to burn and beat some steel...and will later today.

Heading up to see the gang at Trackrock early tomorrow morning and will miss you Michael! Calvin (see my sig line) AKA Mr Tomway is heading up there with me.

Won't be able to participate much until this back heals up, but the company up there will be all good. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for my back after 9 months, so at least I will not be all hunched over when I get out of the car.:D

Have a great weekend all!

I'll be setting up a table at a local knife show in Mt. Vernon, IL. Hopefully, I can scrape up some money to pay for all these custom knives I have on order. Wish I could get out in the shop, but it ain't gonna happen this weekend.

Went hunting this morning, saw one walking in. Nothing else but the wind blowing like hell this morning. We had a cold front come in and whip up the wind. I have a few knives to finish up for a gunshow in three weeks. We get a new channel every year from the cable company we are with. Well I'm happy to say they added the Sportsman channel "All Hunting" "All Fishing" "All the Time" So I've been sneaking in some tv time. Have a good weekend guys.

Lets see, workin on knives, ridin my horse. Paintball on sunday, got to go get my tanks filled and buy more paintballs, figure out why my gun aint shootin as far as everyone else (Peter, can ya get me a .68 barrel for my GPR? ;) )

Well time to get out to the shop and do somethin instead of sittin here on my ass the rest of the day.

Sure Matt. If you want it to go further, up the pressure. I have some 3000+psi tanks. You will play he!! getting them filled but it can be done! :p

Got some Mammoth Ivory yesterday, new bench drill press and a 2x48 grinder to set up, no time for any of that. Still working on the addition, framing it in, correcting the carpentry mistakes of my other carpenter (that I fired). Whew,
lot's to go before rough inspection...hopefully I will finish this weekend, as I expect the grinder next week and want to get it set up....only paid $61.00 for it... :D

I think the other players would frown on the sonic crack of the paintball leaving the barrel....or maybe the sonic crack of it hitting their ass ;)

If I remember, taking my buddies dog out  or puttin' 'em in  . Well at the very least drinkin' his beer.

Oh yea probably goin' out on the motorcycle :D , target practice with the 9MM :D and hangin' wit my family,(immediate and extended) :D

I gotta mow the stinking yard. It just aint right for this time of the year in Missouri.

The usual Friday for me, pay bills and general shopping with my wife, and then took her out for lunch. That blows the first of my usual 3 day weekend. Saturday, squirrel hunt, work in the shop time, and maybe burn the gas out of my outboard motor on the river. Then, maybe winterize the rig. Sunday, more knife work time, I hope. I should talk my wife into cooking up a bunch of squirrels for Sunday dinner. You all are invited. Fried squirrel and squirrel gravy! How about it, IG? It makes you hungry, doesn't it, IG?

Still working on knives for the NY show next week. I'm getten tired of working on knives  Hadn't really had a break sence July. I will have to go hunting and spend some time in the woods when I get back :)

OK John....I gotta ask. What are some of your favorite squirrel recipes? Hopefully you have a killer gravy brew! :)

Fried Squirrel and Gravy

Ingredients :

1 x Squirrel cut into 7 pieces
1 cup Flour seasoned with
1/2 tsp Salt and
1/2 tsp Freshly-ground black pepper
1/2 cup Crisco for frying
Milk for gravy

Method :
Put seasoned flour into small paper bag. Put squirrel, one or two pieces at a time into bag and shake to coat with flour. Meanwhile melt crisco in cast-iron skillet. Put squirrel pieces into pan and brown on both sides. Reduce heat, cover skillet, and cook for about 20 minutes, or until done. Pour off about half the fat. Stir in flour from the bag until you have a very thin roux, or put about 2 tablespoons of the flour into a jar with a tight-fitting lid and add milk, then put on the lid and shake until the flour is dissolved and all the lumps have gone. Make sure you scrape up all the brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Add milk, stirring, and bring to a boil. If the gravy is too thick, add more milk. If it is too thin add more flour and milk mixture and reheat to a boil.

I can be a master at displacement behavior. I've spent all week staying out of the shop and more of the same this weekend. Spent Friday cleaning house with my wife, preparing for a bunch of guests Saturday night, who will join us celebrating her birthday. So I'll spend Sunday undoing the damage. I have six knives within a couple hours each of being done and I can't seem to get over the hump to do it. But Hey! It's clean in my office and I don't mind sitting here typing as much as I did a couple days ago... Now if only my shop was clean maybe I'd get some knife work done. Next weekend I'll be making sheaths for them, after watching Chuck's video again. Dang that's a good lesson. If you haven't seen it I really recommend it. I learned more in four hours watching and listening to Chuck work than in four years fumbling around on my own - heck, I learned more than I would have in four more years' fumbling. I'm really kind of psyched to try doing sheaths the smart way... :D Meanwhile maybe I'll sneak down and clean the shop a bit, while it's still too dark to rake leaves...

T., You are EXACTLY right! Thanks, fella! Dave, your shop looks clean enough to eat off of. I don't even see dust in your shop, fella. It could double for an operating room here.
