I sent a DM to purchase a knife from a new user. Then I posted that I had sent a DM in the thread. I soon got an email from Andrew Stephan (Franchescraftknife@outlook.com) requesting PPFF. I noted that I don't do FF. The person then offered me a 20% discount if I used FF and gave me a PP address for someone else (Sara Shafer). Then I knew I was being scammed.

Then I got a DM from the real seller. That confirmed the email was a scam.

Yes I know I should remove my email from prior posts but after 15 years on BF there are too many to deal with. No more posting in deal threads for me.

It's OK to post in a deal thread. But all payment details should only be conducted via DM. Just ignore any emails.

After a certain point the chase for knives slows down, our tastes refine, the collection starts to focus toward certain things, etc and this is where I’m at; I agree that we don’t need to post in the sales thread. I’ve purchased a ton of items by sending the private message first, then posted later or never posted a reply at all. (feedback used to require a post in the sale thread, now I doesn’t).

Posting “I’ll take it” in the sale thread isn’t a rule of BF, just a common tradition and an obvious way to claim your spot to purchase, I can’t disagree with that in plenty of cases.
