Here is a project I built several months ago and got busy with college and such but I will return to it in the very near future...

I have a few spacers to make for it yet and I have a Grizzly wheel..I think 10in that I trued up on the lathe and bored out for real bearings. I need to mount the motor but I am going to build a pivot tension device for it to keep the slack out of the drive belt. It is VERY close to being done...Then it's almost playtime! :D

If you did all of the machine work on that grinder you will be making very nice knives.

Good Job!!!

How much was all of the alum? I'm guessing a sheet of 1" would be around $300?

Yes.....all the machine work is mine...I drew this up in Solidworks and away I went...

The cost? I really have no idea...The current job I have allows me to make personal stuff from time to time. In the 10yrs I have been there.....This is one of the few items I have made for myself. This is NOTHING compared to what some of my co-workers have made as far as cost goes...I saved scrap pieces that were going to go to the dumpster anyway! SALVAGE...There are a few that were taken from good stock we had laying around..

I have a few ideas for some blades I want to build but I need a bit more equipment which I am slowly amassing.

Shes a beautiful grinder. All the precision machine work puts it over the top. I love it!

Dang, are you sure you want to get it dirty? That looks like it belongs in a hospital! Very nice!

That grinder is pretty sweet for sure. Too bad mine is not gonna look that nice.
