Hows it!

This is my first post here after lurking for quite some time. I am inspired to post because I was at a farmers market today and found a guy in a van, with a bunch of old rusty pocket knives for a dollar each. I asked my fiancee how many more knives I needed with a laugh she rolled her eyes and said, "same as always, Just One More." lol. Gotta love it!

Anyway the guy with the van was having a slow day I guess and we got to talking about hunting and fishing so he gave me a 2 for 1 deal. Here are my two new, old, pocket knives I spent an ENTIRE DOLLAR on. I cleaned one up, and the other I have not gotten to yet. Never posted pics so I hope these work!

Any Info on these would be helpful. I think the Ulster is a 114. Any ideas on date manufactured? How do I replace the missing bail? (pin hole does not go through.) The fish knife I may leave as is. I like the patina, there was not much rust on it and that came of easily with a lil 0000 steel wool.

Cool deal. Can't go wrong. No Buck knives? Ha! I see a few vendors here at the local swap meet but only cheap Chinese knives are sold. Yuck. Enjoy your farmer market finds.

Those Ulster scout knives are awesome, and that's an excellent score for a dollar even if it is missing the bail. ( wouldn't be too hard to make a new one with some brass rod ) usually they've been just about worn down to nothing, but it seems like someone probably lost or broke the bail after a short time and stopped carrying it.
The imperials and colonials were high value knives in their day, and while most of their offerings weren't built like tanks they're pretty solid and the carbon steel they use takes a wicked edge in fairly short order.
If you need to get them cleaned out and working smoothly again I recommend a good flush with wd40 and an air compressor / w ball needle ( can of compressed air if you don't have one ), then a flush with soapy water.
I hope they turn out to be some great users 👍 BTW there a section here just for traditional folders and fixed blades.
