When I first saw/held my 3" XM slicer I thought, "Ooh, this is different, kinda .... small". What I did not realize was that I had changed my paradigm. I had always carried small(ish) knives - then I got my first "larger" knife (different maker) and thought, Oooh, this is different, kinda...Big".
The 3" Hinderer XM is a trully Great knife for lots of reasons not the least of which the balance of purpose and size it brings to the summer wardrobe.
In general however, it is just a great size EDC knife. Plenty of capability without the size usually associated with a capable knife.
So.... for any in doubt. IF you get one and do not find it to be a great fit - PLEASE just let me know!
The 3" is a winner with the young knife enthusiast as well. I have a nephew that has called dibs on mine if and when I lose interest in it. Truth be told, once the time is right....it's very likely his. By that time I may have another anyway.
