The paper thin scales on my new Alpha 271 are held on with what look like small button screws. Is there a standard tool to remove these?
Obviously they are similar to allen heads, however I'm not familiar with working with them, and wanted good advise before I start to tear my new knife apart.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure they are torx screws. I don't know the size off hand but I can check when I get home later.

Appreciate it.
If I'm going to buy another $8 tool that sits in my tool box after one use, I at least want it to be the right one.

Beach, you might as well go ahead and buy you a set of torx. Lots of things use them now. Cheap set should do ya..

They even come in sets where it is just the bit that will fit into a driver.

Thanks. I see now why you call yourself Pack Rat. Just kidding. I will do that.
Very much appreciated guys.

Yeah, packing rats is definitely an affliction. But a while back, I rewired my garage with a new circuit sub panel and added several circuits and never once had to make a run to homie depot :D... I am still wondering where that subpanel and all those breakers came from.:rolleyes:

Pack Rat is right Beachy...
Get the Torx if you plan on collecting more Bucks. Great for fine tuning pivots, et al.

As for the Alpha scales...I am planning on replacing the existing ones on my Rose Dorado.
But on the full size Alpha folder I took the scales off for a day and two and played around with using the knife like that. I actually liked it (find the Alpha folder with it's scales too large for EDC IMHO).

Anyway, just wanted to say "hello" and to take Pack Rat's advice.
