Alpha Hunter

Hi,

Today i bought the Alpha Hunter and im very happy with it.
But i also feel a little side to side play of the blade. There's a hole for a special type of a wrench. Can i tighten the blade when i use a wrench for it? And what type of wrench do i have to use? I hope someone can help me :)

Thanks

...Welcome to the forum aphex...I use a #10 Torx...It seems to fit perfectly and it doesn't take but a "teenie weenie" bit of torque to tighten it up. Be careful that ya don't over-tighten it...it's real easy to do. You want that Alpha's blade to move silky smooth...Again...Welcome.

I have the same knife with the wiggle. I tightened that torx up and still wiggled. Still sitting here next to a 110 I need to send back in.
Goose.

...honker does make a good point...I have heard of a few in past threads that seemed like they wouldn't tighten up...I remember now that he does have that problem...I'd suggest crankin' that Torx bit with a 24" pipe wrench if ya have one...  :p ...jus' kiddin' ya know...did I "welcome" ya to the forum yet???...

My first impression of the alpha hunter wood was a very good one. It looked so good and felt great (and heavy) when i had it in my hand.

After all i was not happy with it.. Yesterday i brought it back to the shop where i bought it. I'm lucky because i got my money back (99 euro here in Holland)
The reason why i brought it back was:

- too much side to side play of the blade (i was afraid tightening the pivot didn't do much good to the problem according the threats on this forum) a knive, especially a knive of 99 EURO's (126 USD) with a wiggle of the blade doesn't feel good.
- the lock goes almost off the blade to the left when its locked. 1 little movement of my finger on the lock unlocked the blade.
- there were some strange spots in the lacquer finish of the wood. i carefully peeled some of the lacquer off (you can remove the white spots by peeling it) and gave the spots a new lacquer. But such a great knive may not have some lacquer finish errors in my opinion.
- i could sent it back to the Buck factory, but sending knives from Europe to USA is somewhat risky because when the customs office opens the package, they will see the knive as a weapon. And thats no good. They maybe keep and/or i will get trouble.

So, it is a ''mission failed'' for me unfortunately..

That's too bad.... it sounds like it was defective, I would have done the same thing.
The lockup on mine is perfect... the lock is closer to the left edge and requires a little effort to release it. The very slight play mine had was easy to adjust.
Well maybe someday you'll find one you can examine right in the shop.
