so something interesting just happened.
I think was just fired as a customer from AKS. i complained about their shipping notification practice and communication.
Just curious if anyone else has had the same situation happen to them?

Not everyone likes to be told how to run their business. They have a right to refuse to do business with you. You can refuse to do business with them.

If true, just think of all the money and stress you'll save?

Happened to me once, the safety glass supplier for my firm. The guy was the owner, a real prick, having a bad day. Two years later when I needed new glasses they still took my order...money talks and nobody wants it to walk :)

no harm no foul. as eveled said, they have that right. plenty of suppliers and it's not my business to run. just odd business strategy. the order was back in July and maybe they caught me on a bad day, it is possible. Tried to order again couple days ago and they fired me :) . more curious if AKS had new ownership or something behind the scenes.
thanks for the comments.

I've been fired as a customer, though not of a knife shop, and fired customers before for a variety of reasons. As stated above, it's definitely their right to do so. Now, as to whether or not it was particularly justified, well, not really enough information here to tell.

If you don't think you maybe deserved "firing " , then you are better off going elsewhere .

If you did something offensive , a sincere apology sometimes can work wonders .

I have been buying most of my steel from AKS for many years. I have never had any problems. I order steel, steel shows up, (pretty darn quick too), I make knives. I use to buy a lot of natural handle materials from them as well. They made the business decision to no longer carry natural handle materials. So I started sourcing those materials other places. They certainly have the right to do so if they want and I did too. Kinda how these things work. Many of my suppliers are small family run businesses. Each has its own way of doing business. It's what works well for them. This outfit has this procedure, another has a different, a third completely different. Order on line here, call there, send an email at this outfit. I certainly don't know the details of your situation with AKS so have no criticism to offer for either side. You asked if we've had the same experience and I have not.

That being said I have fired customers. Not many, out of many thousands of customers, but there are a couple where the PIA isn't worth the $s earned. So I won't do business with them.

When I was a paper boy I fired a customer. I collected what I was owed and politely told him I was no loner going to deliver the paper. He was shocked, threatened to complain and he did. When I, a 13yo boy, explained to my distributer the situations that led to it, he agreed with me.

I don't buy from them personally, but I have heard about them getting angry/defensive with customers before - probably on this forum. So, yeah, it's probably a thing.

Not passing any judgement calls about it one way or another. As others have said, it's their right.

I got fired one time as well. It was ecop on eBay. I purchased a knife which was defective. I requested a return, shipped back at my expense. Tracking said delivered but ecop claimed they never got it. I spent a couple of weeks, hours on the phone with post office that services them, ecop washed their hands of the situation, didn't even bother to ask their carrier. Long story short after claims and appeals,I collected in insurance months later. One day I saw something listed I wanted and when I went to buy it, I got a message I can't bid on their auctions. I was like what the hell did I do? I was never nasty or disrespectful throughout the ordeal.
Tried to message them to ask what the problem was, but when your blocked you can't even send a message. It happens, I wouldn't worry about it. Give your money to another business

I once got the wrong food at a Chinese restaurant and tried sending it back, they did not care.. sometimes people are crappy business owners and sometimes people are crappy customers, stuff happens, there's a reason successful companies specialize in customer service but unfortunately it's led consumers to feel entitled everywhere they go

"Shipping notification and practices"?

I order, they charge cost plus a couple buck handling, packing is the best in the business and they ship in a couple days.

Their prices are great, shipping is fast except right now with USPS Xmas delay, I would be butthurt if fired as customer. Thanks for the heads up, will be very polite like always to them. Happy customer for past year with them. They don't send tracking info in order completion email but you can get it on site, "orders" tab, tracking number in there but not highlighted.
