Alpha

Alpha who?

Oh I see from your other post you mean Alpha Knife Supply Alpha Knife Supply .

They are a long standing trusted source in the knifemaking business.
The steels they sell are ready to go when you purchase from them. There is no need for special pre treatment before you can use them or heat treat them.

There are no surprises, just good honest folk who care about serving the knifemaking community.

Stickies are the threads pinned at the top of the threads list. They contain lots of FAQ and introductory info.

Hmm sorry haha I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate the site 😅 idk if I'm even posting in shop talk or nah

Many knife-makers buy from them on west coast, very fast shipping and great prices. Cater to stock removal knife-makers, also those who wish to make folders.

If you're new, they are the best supplier that sells small pieces at small prices.

Steel, titanium, micarta, laminates and handle material

You can try something out without huge $ sunk into materials and shipping.

Colour photos are pretty accurate

They know what they have, no ordering and only gettting half of it because they are clueless on inventory

Credibility with certs.
You can't trust admiral steel to sell you what they have it labelled as.
They have a history of undisclosed substitutions.
Maybe you can trust them now, maybe you can't.

I like dealing with mom and pop shops, and particularly the kind which are operated by people who KNOW THEIR SHIT. People like this take great pride in retaining customers because they know how important repeat business is because they've been doing it for awhile. They have a passion for their business which steers them through the tough time, and allows them to be innovative and expand with the good times. Alpha fit all my criteria, and the proprietary nature of even some of their least glamorous products, not to mention the crazy cutting edge titanium stuff they do, are the cherry on top. Ordering from Canada costs a lot extra, just the exchange rate alone, but it's always been worth it:thumbsup:

I agree with what everybody else says. They do great service and have a lot of the harder to find steels in stock (or get them back in regularly). Some steels I don't buy from them just because I plan on making a quite a few of something in that specific steel I'd rather have longer full bars that I can better utilize the whole piece but for 1 off projects (vast majority of what I do) they are perfect cause you don't need to buy a full bar of a really expensive steel. I was looking for some S110V for a friend one time and they were listed as out. They emailed me when they got some in so I could order. They didn't have to do that. That's why I'll keep ordering from them.

Customer service is on point. Chuck will take the time to answer any questions you have. Fast shipping. Excellent packaging. Great selection! Can't beat 'em!
