Jake, you need to get a leather Zippo belt sheath like mine. I always know where my lighter is. Started using the belt sheath back in 1996. Haven't misplaced a Zippo since. I tried that Z-clip and it was stupid. The leather sheaths are the way to go. I got the kind with a belt loop instead of a belt clip. The belt clip ones are pretty worthless. This is the one I use.
