Hey Skunk, is it a tradition to write backwards on you vest so they can see you coming down the river in their rearview mirrors?
:D
Bob

LOL
i must have been holding the camera upside down? that's how gundy feels living down under:D

Man, Skunk, that is some beautiful scenery!!!

What is with that non-Busse issue knife on your vest????? I was expecting to see a BBSHSH strapped on one side, a Satin mojo on the other side, and an american kensi strapped to your back!!

good story there! that was a gerber ez-out. before i lost it in the river it about killed me. i had to much to drink and slipped, look at the way it would open... it DID open and i had the stupid blade standing straight up with the edge inches from my fat, juicy neck!

this season i will go with a fixed blade and kydex sheath:)

i may serrate half of an AD and use it for a safety knife:cool:

Are you going to serrate the AD yourself or have Jerry do it? Do you know if you can order a AD with serrations?

i would try a chainsaw file (stone type) and try it myself. i think for cutting webbing you need the round style. no wait! i got it... use the serration stone that comes with the lansky sharpener. just clamp the blade in the holder and grind away, or use the triangle diamond stone from a spyderco sharpmaker. i'll post a pic as soon as i get my vice mounted up.

Idaho, IMHO make circular-shaped serrations. Don't make triangular-shaped or other sharp-inside-cornered serrations in the blade. The corners serve to concentrate stress risers (force vectors within the metal when the metal is being stressed or flexed). The concentration of risers induces cracks to form and propagate from those corners.

Circular intrusions into the metal (like Busse-style serrations, round-shouldered plunge lines, or radiused tang-to-ricasso transitions) serve to redirect the stress risers instead of concentrating them.

So IMHO go with your initial impulse - a round chainsaw file or stone. 1/8" diameter or smaller should do the job okay. FWIW there are small rod-shaped grinding stones sold for Dremel Tools that work well for making Busse-style serrations. Using a Foredom or other speed controller foot pedal helps to keep the rotational speed of the stone down and the metal cool. If you are working on a Busse you can always cool it with a quick dip in CBL to remind it of its birthplace. ;)
