no apology necessary. ill be the first to admit that i could be a bit more patient at times with those new to our little sickness.

when i first opened the thread i almost typed something a bit more curt. i took a couple breaths and reread it, and realized i was in your position not so long ago.

if i can help you find a particular knife, let me know.

go to bussecompanystore.com

the game warden, at 187, is the least expensive model currently available. the scotch dispenser at the main site is cheaper, but limited in practicality.

the gw will work for just about any day to day use you will encounter. one of my all time favorites.

both the badger and its attack brother are both very appealing...along with the infi which i couldnt find on the website

the badger attack tac is the knife at the bcs. "tac" refers to the handle shape. this is the fourth generation of badger.

what other infi are you looking for.

(infi is the steel jerry uses, in case you didnt understand.)

Why do you think it is less practical? Blades are very similar, just a different handle shape.

bmilla35, welcome to the forums and the world of Busse and Hogs.

Back in the mid 90's, I started looking into the "if you could only have one knife" knife.

I read, I listened, I asked, read some more. Found an article in the "American Survival Guide" by the late Chris Janowsky about "Chosing the right Survival Knife" I believe was the title.

He took many models available at the time, both fixed and folders.

He put each of them through a litinay of tests.

The Busse Steel Heart II was the choice for fixed blades.

I decided to buy one, figuring it would be the only fixed blade I'd need as the list of test criteria far exceeded my anticipated usage parameters.

Bought it, and found that it did indeed meet all the demands I could put on it, and still maintain a sharp edge.

It was only later I found there were others using their blades far more frequently and under far more hostile conditions, and they were shining through.

The ability these blades have to hold a 58-60 Rockwell rating, yet flex up to 35 or 40 degrees and return to true, flex over 75 degrees without breaking is amazing.

The corrosion resistance is great given that the steel is not a true stainless.

The guarantee that Jerry enthusiastically maintains and supports is rarely (if at all) seen elsewhere in the industry.

Save your coins, get one, use it, see what it will do with ease, see if you can find its limits.

There are documents available that folks have saved and can probably send you or link you to that will go into far further detail about the steel itself.

Too, you will find that a lot of what is here is not just the knives. It is the community Jerry, his products, his business beliefs, and moreso most of his customers themselves have created and evolved into is the true strength here.

We look forward to helping answer any questions you have. Please do not hesitate to ask openly, or contact any of us privately should you be "timid"...

No worries man.

We're here to help bro.

Mike

i think its sleep time for me(if i can)...ill be back in the morning before church. thanks for everything so far! lets hope that i dream about getting a knife

ahh!! im going crazy all of them mori!!

ok, a quick lesson on how this works.

currently, the only knife made to order is the scotch dispenser.

idahoskunk, who runs the busse company store, a separate entity but tied in with busse combat nonetheless, sells various knives. the game warden has been a bcs exclusive, other than custom shop models (get to that later). skunk also gets knives that have been taken out of production to sell at his site. the batac was offered earlier this year on the main site.

now, the best part. ganzas. every so often, jerry posts pics/prices of a bunch of stuff. variants, one offs, custom jobs, military overruns, variations on variations, etc. he gives us a date and time. you send an email with your choices after a "go" is posted. (ganzas of late have actually shut down the forums due to heavy traffic.)

then you wait for a call letting you know what you scored or didnt score.

wow that kinda sounds like its cheating...are you saying its physically addictive? i guess its time to try

Just let me say this, I started looking at them last year and once I dove in and bought one off the exchange I had 4 more bought before the first arrived.
I don't think that can happen with the strongest drug.
Then I bought three more the next week. I won't tell you about the whole slide....just run, run, run

Just my .02 worth...just buy one, I'd suggest a Game Warden while they are available and comparitavely inexpensive. Handle it, study it, use it and I truely believe all of your questions will be answered and then you'll be buying more, posting more and enjoying more  These knives are the bomb, but untill you hold one, you'll never know :D
