Has anyone used the Altama 3lc desert boot? Any comments on it. Good? Bad?? So-so?? Looking for a decent boot for hot weather that wont break the bank.

Haven't used them, but I have mates that do and seem to be pretty happy with them.. They look like a pretty good boot.

I want to say that Bo-Tach has that boot on sale IIRC. Or as I call them, Bo-Slack, since its a crap shoot if your order will actually show up.

Also, check Lapolicegear.coms closeout section, they have 3 really nice designs of a Desert boot made by Bates. For $33

Go to la police gear they have bates ICB boots in desert on closeout for like 37 bucks. I have the black ones which are un believably comfortable. Leather, vibram sole, gortex lined. They are very similar to the altamas, and the danner usmc boots. I am gonna order some of the desert ones too before they sell out.

For light weight boots I prefer Wellco's, but I did get a pair of the Altama 3LC's for my deployment to Iraq. These actually have held up quite well; I'm getting a little stitching loose on the back seam above the heel, but other than that, they've done very well. A lot of walking over rough terrain and the sole has held up much better than I thought it would...it's still going strong.

Rock6. How long have you had them? The more I look on the internet the more I'm leaning toward the Altama 3lc.

J williams. I looked at La police gear. They still show the boots but not my size. They do have some good closeout prices on BDU's. Just wonder how good they are.

I had a pair issued to me in 1995 (at least they look exactly like the pair you have posted). I wore them everyday for six months + and then when I got back I used them for hiking and yard work. I still have them and wear them. I don't think they are ever going to wear out. I have another pair that was issued to me at the same time and I have never taken that pair out of the box yet. They are little tanks in my opinion.
